Sex & Nudity

  • Characters occasionally mention having hooked up with someone the night before. On some occasions, characters are depicted in bed with a partner the morning after. A minor plot in the first season involves a character sleeping with a prostitute, unaware of her profession.

Violence & Gore

  • Someone gets shot and blood is showing. Someone breaks the window with their hands and they are bleeding.
  • Shootings occur at least four times during the series. Main characters are put in danger, and some minor characters die. Some blood is seen.
  • Fistfights break out on two occasions, without any serious injury.

Profanity

  • Damn, ass, hell are used somewhat frequently throughout the series. Some instances of "bitch". One character exclaims "motherf---" but the scene cuts away.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters are depicted drinking socially on many occasions and in some instances appear drunk or hungover.
  • A character battles alcoholism and prescription drug abuse, and has a relapse.
  • The president can be seen smoking cigarettes in a number of episodes, and another character occasionally smokes cigars.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A character is shown having a heart attack, in a scene that may be intense.
  • Shootings and bombings threaten the lives of many characters throughout the series.
  • A character is assassinated in a scene that may be disturbing.
  • Characters the audience has gotten to know are killed at several points throughout the series.
  • A character suffers from PTSD and punches through a window; blood is visible.

  • A bombing kills a character and seriously injures another. We see the explosion and some of the surviving character's injuries.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A character mentions considering trying ecstasy. She is instead given a date-rape drug, possibly by accident.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A character suffers a heart attack off-screen, and later dies.
  • A character is drugged and abducted in a frightening scene, but survives.
