“Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show” can trace its origins back to at least one unlikely source: disgraced former U.S. representative Anthony Weiner.
Before the series from creators Carmichael, Ari Katcher, and Eli Despres, which premiered at the 2024 SXSW Film & TV Festival, Carmichael’s pie-in-the-sky idea was to play a version of Weiner in the project that ultimately became “Reality Show.” And that prospect was initially even more compelling to the creators than the series that resulted.
“Can we just make a movie of Jerrod trying to get ‘Weiner’ made?” Despres recalled onstage after the series’ SXSW premiere.
And while that premise isn’t without its intrigue, the “Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show” that eventually came to be is something else entirely. It is, simply, a docuseries about the comedian’s life that dwells deeply, sometimes uncomfortably, on his relationships with love, sex, and loneliness. The three episodes shown were “Emmys,” “Mike,...

As the aftereffects of the writers’ and actors’ strikes hit streaming in a big way, there’s not a lot of new content to offer subscribers early in 2024. Hulu still has some interesting things to offer in January, though.
The biggest new Hulu Original series in the new year is Death and Other Details, a locked room murder mystery starring Mandy Patinkin as Rufus Cotesworth, who is said to be the world’s greatest detective – at least in this universe. In the new series, Cotesworth comes to the rescue when an unfortunate soul is killed on lavish Mediterranean ocean liner, and he has to team up with the prime suspect (Violett Beane) to solve the crime.

While he was previously best known for his work on R-Rated comedies, Todd Phillips shocked audiences with his dark take on the iconic Batman antagonist Joker. The gritty origin tale was inspired by the Martin Scorsese classics Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy, and earned significant awards attention that was unusual for a comic book film. Joker received eleven Academy Award nominations, with Joaquin Phoenix taking home the trophy for Best Actor. It was a surprising move for Phillips, who was previously best known for comedic work including Road Trip, Due Date, and The Hangover trilogy.

"Yeah... That's Not Going To Happen." - Phil. The hilarious opening line sets up the wild comedy and sets the tone for the movie. "No, He Was Skiing In Vermont. It Was Just During The War." - Alan. Alan's strange associations and odd glimpses into his life make for unexpected and funny quotes throughout the movie. "Check Its Collar Or Something." - Alan. The guys' ill-preparedness for suddenly having custody of a baby is highlighted by Alan's suggestion to check the baby's collar, adding to the comedic chaos.

The Hangover franchise shouldn't receive another sequel despite its initial success and the recent interest shown by Bradley Cooper. The original film's success stemmed from its unique premise and the sequels failed to recapture its magic. Even with the original cast on board, director Todd Phillips may not be interested in returning to The Hangover franchise. Phillips has moved on to more serious films, making a return to the comedy series a regression for him. The Hangover sequels were neither critically nor commercially acclaimed, failing to recreate the original film's magic. Continuing the story would only further diminish the impact of the original and do the franchise no favors. Another sequel would be a bad idea.

Through stories centered around monsters, serial killers, ghosts and demons, horror has a wide range of ideas, which has kept it alive and popular. The genre has also been aided by mastery of multiple genres at once, with all the best horror films fitting into other genres too.
Horror has always been known for its versatility and how well it compliments other genres, such as action, science fiction and thriller. In fact, sometimes the distinction can be so ambiguous that it causes a fan debate over whether a horror movie really belongs in the category, or if it's closer to sci-fi or action. Some entries in the genre would certainly make more sense with a different classification.

The 2000s were all about recovering from Y2K, wearing low-rise jeans and cargo pants, and listening to mixed CDs, though those eventually got loaded onto the new iPod. On television, reality TV got its beginning with the premiere of Survivor on May 31, 2000, and film franchises like Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, and Pirates of the Caribbean ruled the box office.
Movies in the 2000s also had some not-so-great trends, like torture horror (Hostel), raunchy frat boy comedies (Road Trip), and fat suits (The Nutty Professor), but the decade also came with some of the most beloved films of the last 30 years, including The Dark Knight (2008), Mean Girls (2004), and Iron Man (2008), which kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With all the incredible films released between 2000 and 2009, there are bound to be some that audiences have missed, and now is the perfect time to catch up.

Director Emma Seligman broke onto the scene with her 2021 indie, Shiva Baby. The film received rave reviews, making her a filmmaker to watch. It was so well received that audiences clamored to see what she did next. Now in 2023, she is back with her follow-up film Bottoms, reuniting her with her co-writer, actor, and regular collaborator Rachel Sennott (from Shiva Baby). The story follows two unpopular queer high school students (Sennott and Ayo Edbiri) who start a fight club in an attempt to lose their virginity before graduation.
That premise is the perfect setup for a raunchy R-rated comedy. The classic teen raunchy comedy involved men on a mission to sleep with women. Bottoms takes that concept and modernizes it to today’s social world. It is that key ingredient that could make it the surprise hit of the summer. That is not the only thing that makes Bottoms connect with audiences.

In an industry where astronomical movie budgets and multi-million dollar actor salaries are common, it might come as a shock to some when a film's breakout star is handed a rather paltry sum. This was precisely the situation for Seann William Scott, the actor who rose to stardom portraying the memorable character Stifler in the 1999 teen comedy, American Pie.
Recently on The Rich Eisen Show, Scott provided an insight into his initial experiences in the movie world, particularly emphasizing the meager pay he took home from a blockbuster that garnered a massive $235.5 million against a modest $11 million budget. This teen laugh-riot didn't just secure its spot as the year's 17th highest earner; it went on to overshadow recognized titles like Inspector Gadget and the award-winning Shakespeare in Love. Nonetheless, the bounty Scott pocketed from this success was unexpectedly limited.

Seann William Scott confirms he was paid only $8,000 for his role in American Pie. He used most of his paycheck to buy a used Thunderbird, but doesn't remember what happened to the rest of the money. Scott had to work at the LA Zoo as a "churro guy" before the movie came out.
American Pie star Seann William Scott opened up about how little he was paid to appear in the teen comedy. American Pie was a smash hit in 1999, earning $235.5 million off a budget of $11 million and becoming the 17th highest-grossing movie of the year, ahead of Inspector Gadget and Best Picture winner Shakespeare in Love. The movie also spawned a long-running franchise that includes four theatrical movies, five direct-to-dvd spinoffs, and an upcoming fifth movie in development.

Seann William Scott is the latest actor speaking out about their small paycheck in light of the actor’s strike.

Scott made the shocking claim while appearing on the “Rick Eisen Show”. The two played a game of truth or dare when he was asked if it was true that “American Pie” was his first feature-length film and whether he was only paid the four-figure number.

While American Pie was one of the biggest comedy hits of the nineties, grossing over $235 million on an $11 million budget (and millions more on DVD), one of its stars received a pretty paltry salary. Created by Chris Savino, The Loud House first premiered on Nickelodeon in 2016 and has gone on to win a few Emmys in its seven-season history. The "Road Trip" Summer special is all thanks to Rita, who is assigned a travel article at work and therefore has the entire family join her on a cross-country road trip. While Supernatural featured some great anti-heroes and villains over the show’s 15 seasons, the dark fantasy drama also wasted plenty of killer characters despite their evident potential. While Supernatural is deservedly beloved by the show’s large fan base, the series also earned its reputation for being an occasionally frustrating watch. The story of Dean and Sam Winchester was engaging and compelling, and many of the monsters (and allies) that they encountered were memorable. However, Supernatural had a terrible tendency to waste as many great villains and heroes as the show utilized.
There are countless Supernatural characters that the show never used to their full potential. One of Supernatural’s strongest monsters was wasted when the show rushed through their subplot, while some of Sam and Dean’s most memorable love interests were swiftly killed off to raise the dramatic stakes of a given season. This proved particularly unpopular since...

About My Father starring Sebastian Maniscalco and Robert De Niro is a feel-good comedy about the importance of family that could restart a comedy trend we haven't seen since the '00s. In this autobiographical account loosely based on Maniscalco's relationship with his immigrant father, the comedian plays a fictionalized version of himself as a hotel manager who gets invited to meet his girlfriend's parents at their palatial New England estate. Unfortunately, he feels pressure to bring his father Salvo (De Niro), a Sicilian hairdresser who is known for his off-color sense of humor and blunt commentary.
The expected hilarity ensues as the two cultures clash over the course of the weekend, and Sebastian tries to integrate his bombastic working-class father into their privileged, Wasp-y inner circle. In a landscape crowded with tentpole franchises and blockbusters, About My Father is a flip of Meet the Parents and feels like a...

After their intended Broadway residency last fall didn’t quite go as planned, Weezer are going back to the drawing board. Not only is Rivers Cuomo drumming up a new musical, but he’s crowdsourcing some pre-production help from fans, according to a tweet he posted Thursday morning.
“Does anybody want to help me write the story for a musical (which would be the next Weezer album),” Cuomo wrote. “We could make a follow-up to [Songs from the Black Hole] or start afresh.”
Per Weezerpedia, Songs from the Black Hole is an unfinished, space-themed rock opera Cuomo first began demoing in 1994. It was originally meant to follow-up The Blue Album, but somewhere along the way, the band decided it was “a lame idea” and scrapped the concept. Some of its songs did evolve into tracks on their sophomore album Pinkerton, however, including an early iteration of “Tired of Sex.”

Gino D’Acampo has hinted that “arguments” have forced him to quit Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip.
The TV chef has withdrawn from the ITV series, which he co-starred in alongside Gordon Ramsay and Fred Sirieix.
D’Acampo made the announcement in an Instagram post on Sunday (19 March), explaining that his decision was inspired by a desire to protect his friendships with both Ramsay and Sirieix.
According to D’Acampo, his hand was forced by scheduling conflicts caused by production, which has caused “complications”.
“Last week, I decided not to film any more Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip,” he said. “The reason is simple... nothing to do with Gordon and Fred – the friendship is very strong – it’s just because we can’t get the dates together.”

A comment Fred Sirieix made about Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip has resurfaced in the wake of his co-star’s decision to quit.
On Sunday (19 March), Gino D’Acampo revealed he would no longer be a part of the series due to “problems” behind-the-scenes.
In a video shared with his social media followers, the celebrity chef said that “complications” with contracts had led to his decision, and said he would rather quit than damage his friendship with both Sirieix and Gordon Ramsay.
Just 10 days ago, during a chat with Lorraine Kelly on the ITV morning show Lorraine, Sirieix addressed these complications, stating: “We are talking about dates for the next one. It is difficult to juggle all of our diaries.”
He told MailOnline the previous week, while promoting his latest series, Fred’s Last Resort: “It is a bit difficult to juggle all our diaries, but we are getting there.

The “Anti-Hero” hitmaker recently kicked off her Eras tour in Arizona, which The Independent gave five stars in a review of the show.
In the video shared to TikTok, Swift can be seen nearing the camera while the fan holding the phone screams inaudibly.
Swift’s singing is inevitably drowned out by the screaming. The user captioned the video: “The last time I saw Taylor on tour the mom next to us asked us if we could calm down because we were scaring her seven-year-old….”
"See you tomorrow @taylorswift," she added in her caption. “I feel bad for whoever is next to me.”
Since the video has been posted, fans have been sharing their opinions on whether or not they approve of their fellow fan’s behaviour.

The reason for weatherman Rob Marciano’s lengthy Good Morning America absence has been allegedly “revealed”.
Since 2014, Marciano has been employed as ABC’s senior meteorologist, providing extensive weather coverage across the network.
But GMA viewers noticed that Marciano has not been presenting from the studio since November 2022, with many social media users wondering why this was.
It’s now being claimed that Marciano has been “banned” from New York’s Times Square Studios, where GMA is filmed, after allegedly making a colleague feel “uncomfortable”.
A source told Page Six that Marciano was accused of “improper” behaviour and “was punished for it”.
While the alleged incident has not been divulged, it’s been claimed by a separate source that it occurred in the wake of Marciano’s divorce from his wife, Eryn, which was announced in July 2022.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has cast an ex-Game of Thrones star, months after another big GoT name dropped out.
It was announced on Monday (20 March) that three new actors will appear in the forthcoming season.
These include Rory Kinnear, Tanya Moodie and Irish actor Ciarán Hinds, who appeared in HBO series Thrones as Mance Rayder as well as the cable channel’s Rome, playing Julius Caesar.
His casting comes after Joseph Mawle, who played Benjen Stark in Thrones, quit the role of Adar following the conclusion of season one.
Mawle made his debut as the orc leader when the show, based on the work of Jrr Tolkien, was released on Prime Video in September.
He took centre stage as the series progressed, and by the end of the season, is shown to become “king of the Southlands” before changing the location’s name to...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Conners season 5, episode 18.While The Conners season 5 tried to mine a little drama out of Jackie and Neville’s marriage, the Roseanne spinoff should not continue with this storyline for too long. The Conners, like its predecessor Roseanne, has put Jackie through a lot. While Laurie Metcalf’s scene-stealing supporting star might be the comedic highlight of both shows, that doesn’t mean that the character’s life has been devoid of tragedy. In The Conners season 5 alone, viewers learned that Roseanne and Jackie’s father was physically abusive to them and their mother, that Jackie had an abortion earlier in her life, and that her mother Beverly was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
While the many Roseanne retcons of The Conners explain why some of these twists seemed to come out of left field, they were hardly the first traumas that Jackie faced in the two shows.

We have even more clarity about why Sammi’s finally ready to be part of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. Sammi’s timing has everything to do with Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, which was one of the reasons we speculated Sam chose to come back.

495 Productions wanted Sammi to be part of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation since it began in 2018. She agreed to be involved with a Reunion Road Trip special for E!, but didn’t appear in episodes of the MTV series after that — until now.

The Irish director and musician John Carney once made a movie under the working title “Can a Song Save Your Life?,” though the name was changed before it was released. And another batch of Dublin musicians of note ask a similar question in the documentary “Kiss the Future,” which premiered on Sunday at the Berlin International Film Festival and finds U2 using music to aid the occupants of a city under siege, Sarajevo.

Joker is a movie directed by Todd Phillips starring Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro and Frances Conroy.
The most awaited movie of the year leads us to a bitter social denouncement in which no one is left standing, that merges satire and flight of fancy. A kick in the mouth for movies about super heroes and the industry.
Joker is the movie of the year, no matter what they say, and mentioning Joaquin Phoenix as an Oscar winner is no longer a pipe dream nor is this movie a clear-cut candidate for the award that, I am afraid, will not receive it.
Storyline Joker (2019)
Arthur Fleck is a comedian (a clown) with a disreputable life that leads him to madness…(maybe not so much). He is considerably pissed off with society and will make someone pay.
About the Movie
Very, very good. Crude, cruel, an uncomfortable fusion of extremes that we love.

As the calendar flips over to 2023, Prime Video is attempting to start a new year on the right track with fresh seasons of some major originals.
Prime Videos’ list of new releases for January 2023 is highlighted by Hunters season 2 on Jan. 13. The first season of Hunters was set in 1977 and followed young Jonah Heidelbaum’s (Logan Lerman) introduction to a world of Nazi-hunting. After a lengthy wait for season 2, the fresh (and final) batch of episodes will find Jonah and friends venturing to South American to take out none other than Adolf Hitler, himself.
While Nazi-hunting undoubtedly takes up a lot of streaming space, two other Amazon original series of note arrive in January. The Rig, a supernatural thriller set on a Scottish oil rig, premieres Jan. 6. That will be followed by season 2 of fantasy role-playing animated series The Legend of Vox Machina on Jan. 20.

There are few tasks in Hollywood harder than making a sequel which improves on the original. Writing a follow-up to a bonafide modern Christmas classic, however, might be one of them!
When Elf first arrived in theaters back in November 2003, few could have predicted it would go on to become one of the most beloved Christmas movies of the 21st century. Yet Elf was that rare example of cinematic lighting in a bottle; the coming together of actors and filmmakers destined for big things.
Will Ferrell was a fast-rising comedic star fresh from Saturday Night Live and having only recently stolen the show in Todd Phillips’ frat house comedy Old School. Zooey Deschanel had a string of credits to her name, but it was Elf that helped establish the “manic pixie dream girl” persona that would bring her repeated success in the decade that followed. It’s not unusual for people in the entertainment industry to spend most of their careers focused on one genre. However, there are also plenty of people who like to switch things up. Among them is award-winning director, Todd Phillips. During the early 2000s, Phillips was best known for directing comedy films such as The Hangover franchise and Road Trip. However, by the time the mid and late 2010s rolled around, Todd has shifted to a completely different space. He gained widespread notoriety in 2019 with the release of the hit movie Joker which starred Joaquin Phoenix in the title role.

Comedian Andy Dick was arrested today by Orange County Sheriff’s deputies on charges of felony sexual assault.

The final season of This Is Us hit the air Tuesday night.
This Is Us Season 6 Episode 1 managed 5.3 million total viewers and a 1.0 rating in the demo.
The numbers mark the lowest-rated and least-watched premiere to date, but it is rare for anything to rise in today's TV climate.
The positive is that the numbers mark the best demo tally for the soon-to-conclude drama since February.
New Amsterdam returned at 3.3 million viewers and a 0.4 rating, steady with its fall finale.
Earlier in the night for NBC, American Auto (2.4 million/0.4 rating) and Grand Crew (1.6 million/0.3 rating) had weak results.
Over on CBS, FBI returned at 8.3 million viewers and a 0.7 rating, leading the night in the demo.
International (5.9 million/0.5 rating) and Most Wanted (5.3 million/0.4 rating) were both on the downside on the night.
Over on ABC, Judge Steve Harvey got off the ground running, managing a robust 4.9 million viewers and a 0.7 rating.

Retrospective special The Price Is Right Celebrates 50 Years on CBS was the big winner of the final Wednesday primetime of 2021.
Earning a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demo and 4.95 million viewers, the repeat airing of the CBS special led the pack as the night’s highest-rated and most-watched program. Not too shabby for a rerun, considering that previous repeat broadcasts haven’t earned beyond a 0.5 demo rating since the primetime holiday break started. This is the second week in a row that CBS has won Wednesday primetime with The Price Is Right-related content. Last week, CBS ruled Wednesday with The Price Is Right at Night.
That said, other networks’ repeat-filled primetime slates on Wednesday didn’t perform as well. Following its black-ish marathon on Tuesday, ABC’s Wednesday schedule thrust The Wonder Years into the spotlight. At the top of Wednesday’s six-episode marathon, The Wonder Years earned a...
