The series repeatedly states that, following Hitler's suicide, Karl Donitz became the "second Fuhrer" of Nazi Germany. In reality, Hitler's last will designated no successor to the office of Fuhrer and the title was effectively abolished upon his death. The government of Germany then reverted back to the original form under the Weimar Republic with a separate President and Chancellor. Karl Donitz became the President of Germany while Joseph Goebbels became Chancellor. Goebbels served for only one day, until his suicide, after which Donitz appointed a "Leading Minister" to replace the office of Chancellor.

An excellent account of the last days of WWII.
This is a fantastic 20 something part account of WWII. I have seen, read, studied WWII and all of the major & minor characters & battles so on and so forth. One thing I've learned over the years, is that just when you think you know all of the stories of WWII, there is a thousand more you haven't heard of. I know a lot especially compared to my contemporaries & even more than those who lived through that time. More than anything I find it a shame that all those that were part of the fight against the Axis powers (that's Germany, Japan & Italy for those that don't know, but you probably aren't reading this anyway) but even to those that think they know everything about WWII this is still a pretty entertaining watch. They don't delve too deep into things, but they cover a lot of ground and do in order which is extremely refreshing. My only real complaint is that much of the info is repeated over and over again which gets old and annoying. This covers both the war against the Nazi's very well & does pretty good service to the island hopping campaign against the Japanese as well. This is a good resource for those willing to learn more & are interested in the stories the men have to tell who were there before they are all gone.
