48 Hours investigates the murder of heiress Nancy Pfister who was discovered murdered in her Aspen home in February 2014. She was murdered in her sleep by several blows to the head. Police eventually arrest retired anesthesiologist Trey Styler who killed Nancy in a dispute over an eviction.

48 Hours revisits the case of millionaire Robert Durst who was recently the subject of the HBO True Crime documentary. Durst is suspected of involvement in the disappearance of his wife and was once charged for the murder and dismemberment of a neighbor. He was recently arrested in New Orleans for the 2000 murder of Susan Berman.

48 Hours examines the case of Harold Henthorn whose wives died 17 years apart in supposedly freak accidents. His first wife Lynn died in 1995 after a car held up by a jack fell on her. His second wife Toni died in 2012 after a fall during a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. Investigators believe that the two death may be murders.

48 Hours goes to Florida to look at the case of Anita Smithey who claims to have shot and killed her husband Robert Cline in May 2010 after an evening of rough sex. During the trial, her defense team claims that she was 'standing her ground' when she killed her husband. The jury, however, does not accept the claim and finds her guilt of murder. She is sentenced to forty years in prison.

48 Hours goes to Florida examines the February 2010 murder of Kelly Brennan whose battered body was discovered in a field by a police helicopter pilot. A friend Sheila Trott claims to have had a clairvoyant vision of the murder, but police eventually suspect her for the crime. She is arrested and convicted by prosecutors who argue that she committed the murder because she believed Kelly was sleeping with her husband.
