Sex & Nudity

  • In a scene that shows Ashi's childhood, she is shown as a little girl only wearing a towel. Someone takes off her towel leaving her bold. Her frontal nudity is visible but not detailed.
  • A random alien character in a scene has a head/face which resembles a penis and another character says as much.
  • Nothing over the top, but there can be some mild innuendos.
  • In the episode "Jack in Wonderland" Jack goes skinny dipping, when the rabbit takes his clothes. Jack has to cover his nudity in the underground city by wearing many disguises while trying to find the rabbit who took his clothes. There are many instances where Jack's crotch region is only barely covered by incidental objects, such as leaves and puffs of smoke.

Violence & Gore

  • Large amounts of fantasy violence, but almost all of it is against robots. Jack himself is occasionally hurt, which sometimes leaves red scratches on his body. All violence is completely bloodless.
  • Because the show has adopted a more mature tone, Season 5 is significantly more violent. Violence against humans is common, and often comes with large splashes of blood which tend to linger both on the scenery and on the people involved.

Profanity

  • Seasons 1-4 have no swearing whatsoever. Insults do not get any more profane than "stupid" or "idiotic".
  • Season 5 does not contain any swearing aside from in Episode 6, where there are a few uses of "damn", and "ass". Scaramouche comments that another character's head "looks like a talking penis".
  • The Scotsman has a tendency to use Scotland-derived insults, including "schooner" and "cally-breek tattie". It is unlikely a child would understand what he is saying.
  • A deleted scene for the episode "Tale of X9" contains the line "Damn feelings", but this line was left out in the final cut of the episode.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Occasional drinking is shown on the screen, but it is never shown exactly what the drinks are.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Season's 1-4 are generally kid-friendly episodes, but Season 5 is much darker, mature and more violent by comparison.
  • Some episodes are more intense than others. Aku in particular can be an intimidating villain, and can be potentially frightening to children.
  • The fifth season is significantly darker, more intense, and more violent, being highly reminiscent to Logan (2017).

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • The 8th episode of Season 5 has a lot of sexual innuendos, as Jack and Ashi start falling in love with each other. Earlier in the episode, they're both standing close to each other inside a transporting camel-like alien, and at one point, Ashi says "Something's poking me". This is obviously intended as a penis joke, but in reality, it's just Jack's sword. Later, as Jack and Ashi are fighting against the giant leach alien, some of the leaches land on Ashi and start ripping off her clothes. Jack sees her nude body and quickly turns away, blushing like crazy while saying "You're naked!". And finally, after they destroy the alien, Jack and Ashi share their first passionate kiss as the episode ends.

Violence & Gore

  • Jack kills the Seven Daughters of Aku in the snowy forest, except for Ashi. This is a very violent scene of the series.
  • The High Priestess was about to kill Jack, but Ashi throws an arrow at her and falls to her death.
  • Ashi kills hundreds and dozens of the Orc army to protect Jack. This is a very bloody scene, it is a Kill Bill style.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The Scotsman says that he has a daughter named Guinness ( A Irish Beer) but it's played for laughs due to them being Scottish.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In the series finale, Ashi dies by falling to the ground at the wedding, telling Jack that she would have never existed, and then fading away. This is very emotional.
