    • Quotes

Tess Mercer: [Reading Chole's letter to Oliver] Oliver, I never thought I'd have to tell you how I feel about us because the smile on my lips when I looked at you pretty much said it all. But now that you won't be seeing it anymore I'll have to use words to tell you. I've never loved anyone the way I've loved you and I never will again. You are my brightest star, my knight in shining leather, my hero.

The story of growing up of the most famous superhero
"The Secrets of Smallville" became a unique project that lasted on TV screens around the world for 10 years, giving viewers an interesting story of the formation of Superman. The series approached the creation of a whole world with special respect, where the young Clark Kent grew up and became the hero we know well. The project got better and better from season to season, expanding its mythology, carefully introducing heroes and villains known to fans of comics, introducing other interesting characters. Successful scenario solutions, beautiful and cool actors, good-quality special effects that looked good for the series - all this allowed "Secrets" to become a cult project, which is still remembered with special warmth today.

The creators of the series very competently told the story of the guy in red and blue. The narrative covers the most interesting years of Clark Kent's life from the moment he studies in high school to the years when the guy becomes a man and appears as a journalist of the legendary in the world of Superman edition of the Daily Planet.

The project has all the aspects that are inherent in the series, which is aimed at a teenage audience. There will be strange decisions of the main characters, a sea of drama that is relevant for adult teenagers. However, in the work there are no outright distortions or rolls in some tearful moments. The series proudly holds the bar high, allowing you to get to know the characters of the series and feel them literally as your own family.

The work of all the actors is good. Tom Welling acted as a wonderful young Clark Kent, who really conveys the spirit of the future Superman. He is the son of his parents. Jonathan and Martha Kent raised the guy to be a sincere, wonderful person who is ready to help people, to be a support for humanity. Sometimes, however, this allows the guy to be an outright bore, but I, as a spectator, fully accept it. Annette O'Toole and John Schneider are good. Their characters turned out to be really sincere. These are really the parents who could give Superman to the world by raising an alien from outer space as a sympathetic person. Well, the hero of John Schneider became a real decoration of the series, showing a true man with a capital letter in the middle of the fifth season, when every viewer realized how dear one of the heroes of the project could be.

Other characters are also good. Here is Clark's first love Lana Lang, played by the charming Kristin Kreuk, the merry Pitt Ross, who was successfully introduced on the screen by Sam Jones III, the smiling Allison Mack, playing the role of Chloe Sullivan.

I would especially like to mention the game of Michael Rosenbaum and John Glover. They play the roles of the Luthor couple: Lex and Lionel, respectively. Well-written characters and excellent performance. All this over the course of many series allows you to see the evolution of the characters. The relationship between Clark and Lex stands apart. A kind of friendship, a complicated relationship. It will be very interesting to trace their formation over several seasons. The series will show how Lex will come to the hero whom comic book connoisseurs know as the true Lex Luthor.

Other arches of the "Secrets of Smallville" are also interesting. This is Clark's relationship with Lana, Clark with Chloe, Clark with Lois Lane, which was perfectly shown by Canadian actress Erica Durance. In general, many stories here look gorgeous, interestingly intersecting in the increasingly expanding Universe of the project.

The format of the series allows you to trace important aspects of this amazing world to the smallest detail, perfectly reveal the characters, which is exactly impossible to achieve in a separate full-length film.

The villains who will appear from season to season are also good. The serial format allows you to see the antagonists from unusual angles, but the creators' decisions on certain large-scale villains look decent. By the end of the project, viewers will see many cult enemies of Superman, who look quite decent in this world.

"The Secrets of Smallville" is a cult series. This is a great work, which in 10 years has allowed us to form a whole fan base, a separate direction dedicated to this particular work. Great actors, cool visual solutions, interesting stories. For a long time, the series remained the longest-running science fiction series, entering the Guinness Book of Records with this indicator. But the important thing is not that the series was so long, but that over the years it has not slipped into a sad story, as often happens. All 10 seasons are a strong project that will surely bring to a logical conclusion, allowing you to see the most interesting story of the growing up of Clark Kent, the future Man of Steel.

    9 out of 10.
