Trivia

Link's Awakening features many references to Super Mario games. Among them are the Yoshi Doll (modeled after the Mario character of the same name) and several enemies/characters in the game, including Goombas, Chain Chomps, Boo Buddies, Piranha Plants, and Wart. Incidently, the Zelda games and the Mario games were both conceived by the same man, Shigeru Miyamoto. See more »

Alternate Versions

American version is edited for content. In the original Japanese version, the game is set in a limbo between the world of life and death - the American version edits this so it seems like it is simply a dream sequence. Likewise, two instances of implied nudity - a mermaid losing her seashell top, and a hippo girl serving as a nude model, are edited. See more »

I never thought a Gameboy game could be this Good!!!
9 October 2001 | by hmmmboredSee all my reviews

This is yet another of Shigeru Miyamoto's Masterpieces! I thought this game would be really bad and short because it was released for the Gameboy. I was wrong, the amount of difficulty and depth this game possesses is truly amazing! I can't wait for the next Zelda game!
