Netflix and the parent company of World Wrestling Entertainment have struck a deal that will see the WWE’s flagship program “Raw” stream live on the service for the first time ever.
The deal is valued at over $5 billion and includes live domestic and international telecast rights to Raw over the course of 10 years. The agreement is set to take effect in 2025, when WWE’s broadcast contract with NBC Universal expires.
“In its relatively short history, Netflix has engineered a phenomenal track record for storytelling,” WWE President Nick Khan said on Tuesday. “We believe Netflix, as one of the world’s leading entertainment brands, is the ideal long-term home for Raw’s live, loyal, and ever-growing fan base.”
The rights deal includes international distribution of several other WWE programs, including “Smackdown!,” “Nxt” and the pay-per-view events “Royal Rumble,” “SummerSlam” and “WrestleMania.” In the United States, those events will continue to...

The biggest WWE event of the summer is over and SummerSlam should be considered a success although it was also a very controversial show due to the endings of the two biggest matches.
It’s not easy to put on a four hour show, nor is it easy to come up with ten different finishes to matches that are going to satisfy all WWE fans. Just because a major match takes place at a big event like SummerSlam doesn’t mean it has to have a clean finish. WWE is all about looking ahead the next show.
Jon Stewart did a good job as the host of the show, but seeing him do a promo with Mick Foley to start it made it feel like an episode of Raw. What wasn’t expected later on was Stewart becoming the deciding factor in the WWE Title match.

Last weekend I was able to get an interview with The Hardcore Legend Mick Foley whilst at the press conference for the upcoming 2K Games WWE 2K14 video game.
Foley, who in his wrestling career was known for his extreme style of wrestling is more recently known for the extreme opposite to his former antics by releasing children’s books and dressing up as Santa Claus in the upcoming documentary ‘I Am Santa Claus’ by director Tommy Avallone. In this interview I ask the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion what lead to his involvement in I Am Santa Claus, along with his favourite SummerSlam memories and match of all time and his time as a commentator on WWE Smackdown a few years back.
As you’ll see towards the end of the interview Mick and I are joined by Scott Schwartz, an actor I didn’t recognise much to Mick’s dismay.
