“Out of the Crossfire, beyond Hardball, this is Crossballs!”
A parody of political debate shows, Crossballs has comedians pose as experts in their field to discuss the issue of the day and pits them against real life experts who are not aware of the farce debate they are participating in. There is no question that blackface is a racist trope too regularly used on film, TV, and in magazines. While not nearly as rampant as it was in the 1930s, there have been hundreds of instances of blackface employed in the past twenty years. Everyone from Paris Hilton to Ben Stiller and Jimmy Fallon to Billy Crystal has donned a form of blackface in an attempt to be funny, controversial, or — in Hilton’s case — cute. (The things people will do for a laugh.)
The most recent use of blackface is by a repeat offender, Chris Lilley (pictured above), who is the star of the new HBO series, Jonah from Tonga. The series, which follows the story of a Tongan teenager, features Lilley in brownface make-up and a curly wig. In other series, the actor has portrayed S.mouse, an African American rap artist from California and Jen Okazaki, a Japanese mother of three.

Remember comic Jamie Kennedy? He was hot for maybe 5 out of his allotted 15 minutes of fame. But he's been in a ton of movies (71 to date according to IMDb), including, even Tyler Perry's Good Deeds. But what I remember the most was the TV comedy series he did ten years ago - The Jamie Kennedy Experiment. That was the show on which Kennedy would put on different disguises and outfits, and would basically punk unsuspecting real people with some nonsense. Well, just to show that old ideas don't die, they just get re-cycled, Kennedy is now starring in a new web series for Alphabird called Kennedy's Court, which premieres this Wednesday. The premise...

Jamie Kennedy Joins The CW's Game Show Oh Sit!
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that The CW's upcoming extreme musical chairs game show, titled Oh Sit! (no, really), has gained a third voice to help sort out the madness. Joining Tanika Ray (Extra) and Jessi Cruikshank (Virtuality) is Jamie Kennedy, actor and former WB prankster extraordinaire. Kennedy will serve as a commentator on the action with Cruikshank, while Ray will act as a sideline reporter of sorts.
Kennedy, perhaps best known for writing and starring in Malibu's Most Wanted, is no stranger to the "fifth network", having had The Jamie Kennedy Experiment run on The WB for three seasons. He's currently providing voice work for Fox's The Cleveland Show and Nickelodeon's Fanboy and Chum Chum, with two films in post-production.
Even though something like Oh Sit! sounds ridiculous, it could be a great move for The CW. They'll be implementing more year-round programming,...

Comedian Jamie Kennedy is launching a hidden camera show Haha,Jk!, a short-form online series in the vein of hit comedy The Jamie Kennedy Experiment. The new series, starring Kennedy, is featured on his new humor site Hahajk.com. In the series first episode, "The Assistant," comedian Dave Sheridan interviews an unsuspecting job applicant for a personal assistant position to an eccentric millionaire. Expected hijinks ensue, including a bit featuring Jessica Sutta of the Pussycat Dolls. Each seven minute episode is preceded by one of three special thirty second commercial spots starring Kennedy for the series brand sponsor, Ask.com. The Kennedy Ask.com spots—which play like short skits—run across the engage:bdr display network of 1500 comScore beaconed premium websites, just like what Google did with Seth McFarlane's Calvalcade of Cartoon Comedy for Burger King on its AdSense Network. engage:bdr strategically places in-banner video ads to secure substantial audience...

Desperados is the upcoming Universal comedy that will be directed by Betty Thomas, lady best known from Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel title.
But what’s also interesting about this project is the fact that it’s already being described as a “female Hangover.”
That sounds good, especially with Isla Fisher on board, right?
Yeah, you read that correctly, this Universal comedy is actually a starring vehicle for Isla Fisher, and at this moment we know that the studio is currently looking to fill the other two lead roles.
I’m sure you all remember this Australian actress from 2005′s comedy The Wedding Crashers, as well as projects like Definitely, Maybe and Confessions of a Shopaholic.
The Jamie Kennedy Experiment scribe, Ellen Rapoport is responsible for the Desperados script, which landed on the Black List of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays two years ago.

This maybe a revelation to you, but Hollywood Studio PR people lie. In fact, all PR people lie. If you meet one, just remember they weren’t clever enough to be a politician, and that the clothes they are wearing are probably on credit. With that out of the way, let us address some of the language- the more facile of the tropes- that have become commonplace; phrases like “universal themes,” or “incredible journey,” or “Transformers meets Titanic”-Ok, I made that one up- the point being that platitudes and preposterous hyperbole are uniform in both the on and off record Hollywood machine.
We can, therefore, assume with some confidence, that more often than not these statements are either meaningless or bare such a tenuous relation to reality as to be fundamentally disingenuous.
So when- entirely off the record- Universal pictures describe their upcoming film Desperados as “a female The Hangover,...

All throughout the development of Paul Feig’s upcoming comedy Bridesmaids we’ve heard it be described as “the female Hangover”. Well, it hasn’t even hit theaters and already we’re being given news of another “female Hangover”. This one is going to be called Desperados, and it tells the story of three female friends who go to Mexico to try and deal with a scathing message one of them left a guy she likes (presumably before he can hear it?). Sounds like an episode of Three’s Company or something. The screenplay was written by Ellen Rapoport, who wrote a bunch of episodes of The Jamie Kennedy Experiment, and it is being directed by Betty Thomas, who last made Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, so obviously I have enormous faith in this project already. The good news is that the first actress signed to fill out the trio is Isla Fisher. She...

Can I just take a moment's pause, before reporting the story, to say Damn Isla Fisher is one pretty woman. Thank you. That being said, The actress is the potential star to what Uniserval hopes will be a hot-chicks version of The Hangover. The pitch is titled Desparados from rookie screenwriter Ellen Rapoport, mostly known for writing on "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment". Our deepest sympathies go to her for that. The story would have Fisher and her gal pals cross the country to find...

Jamie Kennedy is ramping up his producing efforts, signing on for the indie drama "In Northwood."
Nick Stahl will star in the film, a redemption tale centering on a man condemned to a mental hospital for committing murder. Kennedy described the project as taking place "at a moment when you're at a crossroads and have to choose what decisions you would make to survive."
First-time director D.W. Brown, a playwright who was Kennedy's acting teacher, will direct from his own script. The indie-financed project begins production this month.
Kennedy will produce via his Jizzy Entertainment banner. Mike Wittlin and Sandy Solowitz also are producing, with Mike Rachmil executive producing. Olivia Wilde, Dash Mihok and Shohreh Aghdashloo will co-star.
The move is part of Kennedy's bid to ramp up his feature production efforts. He wrote and starred in but didn't produce 2003's "Malibu's Most Wanted," created the Fran Drescher sitcom "Living With Fran" and created and starred on WB Network's "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment."
"I'd like to be someone who produces different things, whether it's funny or scary or dramatic," Kennedy said. "I want to show people I can produce movies without necessarily putting my face in them."...

MTV has greenlighted a hybrid scripted/reality series starring Jamie Kennedy. Jamie Kennedy's Blowin' Up is something like a combination of the actor's two best known works: the Warner Bros. theatrical film Malibu's Most Wanted, in which he played a wannabe rapper, and the WB series JKX: The Jamie Kennedy Experiment, in which he played pranks. In Blowin' Up, Kennedy and his best friend, Stu Stone, try to become legitimate hip-hop stars by crashing meetings with music moguls and artists in hopes of landing a record deal. The duo will produce real original music to back the effort.

ABC Family has acquired rerun rights to the WB Network series Smallville and JKX: The Jamie Kennedy Experiment from Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution. Smallville, the drama starring Tom Welling as Superman in his teenage years, topped a long list of Warner Bros.-syndicated series, movies and specials that ABC Family has acquired in a wide-ranging deal that could signal a shift in programming strategy for the cable network. ABC Family has spent the past year weathering rocky ratings and executive turnover with the departure last year of president Angela Shapiro and the death in December of programming head Linda Mancuso.

Jamie Kennedy has a new experiment in mind for the WB Network. The executive producer and star of the network's sketch/hidden-camera comedy JKX: The Jamie Kennedy Experiment has inked a deal to co-write and executive produce a semiautobiographical comedy series project for the WB. The as-yet-untitled show, which has received a script commitment from the net, is the first project to come out of Kennedy and John Etting's newly launched production company Wannabe Producers. The comedy -- written and executive produced by Kennedy, Etting and the writing-producing duo of David Garrett and Jason Ward, is based on the real-life experience of Kennedy and his friend Garrett when they first came to Los Angeles and became part of a dysfunctional family.
