  • Two young men repeatedly discuss the prospect of finding and sleeping with girlfriends on their trip across the continent.
  • A woman tells a man that a local river dolphin has sex organs like those of a woman, and that indigenous men nearby have sex with them. The discussion isn't very graphic.
  • A young man solicits the services of a prostitute. They are shown going into a ship's cabin and closing the door. Sex is implied.
  • A young man and young woman kiss in the backseat of a car. Sex is implied.

  • Two men crash several times on a motorcycle.

Profanity

  • Many f-words in the English subtitles, some of those mistranslated from milder Spanish terms. Several s-words also.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Throughout the film there are frank and very uncompromising depictions of the hardship, struggle, and poverty of peasant and working-class life in Latin America. While non-graphic and not visually violent, these depictions can be haunting.
  • A man with asthma swims across a wide river. We are told nobody has ever tried it before.
  • A man suffers with an asthma attack, another man soothes him and tries to make him feel better.
