Sex & Nudity

  • A local man is teased for having an erection and (as a result) he is punched by the American soldiers (don't know what this has to do with the "Sex and Nudity" as it is pure violence). There is no sexual content in this movie.

Violence & Gore

  • Some graphic war violence though the documentary style and war context lessons the impact.
  • We see nothing but a black-screen at first after the opening credits, but then hear the tragedy of 9/11 on the soundtrack. The film then fades in to show the horrified reactions of the New Yorkers. A child has head stitching surgery.
  • A man is hung from a crane and beaten.
  • A man is beheaded- this happens from a distance, and a subtitle pops up saying "Public Beheading in Saudi Arabia" right before it happens, so it's easy to look away from.
  • An egg is thrown at Bush's limo.
  • We see lots of brutal Iraq war documentary footage.
  • A child is shot in the arm and we see it hanging off the bone.
  • A dead child's body is thrown on to a truck.
  • A village full of real dead bodies is shown.
  • Lots of footage of burned people in hospital.
  • A man is tortured and beaten by underage soldiers; he is mocked and hit repeatedly in the groin.

Profanity

  • Fuck is used 5 times, sometimes as motherfucker
  • Bullshit is used once
  • Damn is used a few times
  • Dick and hard on are used once

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Drugs, recreational: None
  • Smoking tobacco and drinking alcoholic drinks throughout

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The violence and twin towers theme will be upsetting to all. The cruelty, violence and torture in this film is very disturbing and there are very intense scenes of upset mothers whose kids have been killed in the war, crying. It is a very intense film. Also some may find it intensely disturbing, if not surprising that the government is really this bad (divisive dishonest, untrustworthy and ignorant). This is a more serious documentary than Moore's previous works.
