    An excellent Action movie

Dhool is an excellent action movie.with a very good screen play dharani directed it very well.and it set a new trend in Tamil cinema industries.i wish a lot movies like this from dharani.don't miss this film highly recommended.

highlight of the film is action and comedy of vivek paravai muniama has played a very good role in this movie and all cast has done there best including pasupathy

overall the film is very well made with action, music, editing, comedy and all commercial aspects needed for tamil cinema...hats of to dharani we expect a lot from u too

    Dhool - Taste the Thunder.

Somehow I would love to classify Dhool as a different movie from the regular Tamil Movie stuff. But how different ? That is where words fail me. But one Tamil word strikes my non Tamil vocabulary - DHOOOOL. Where as this remains my first attempt to write on a regional movie. So , I am trying to make the review look .. ummm..... well Dhool. Well Taste the thunder seems to be the movie caption, Dhool, in Tamil, actually means power and strength. But sometimes it is used in context where you want to say ''excellent''

If you had found me whistling in UDHAYAM theater at Ashok Nagar, ignoring the fact that my girlfriend ( currently upgraded to wife 1.0) is sitting right next to me closing her ears to muffle my whistling sound- blame it on the movie's music score or the music director Vidyasagar, who has done an excellent job in capturing every part of the Tamil music industry's attention towards this sound track. Well the songs actually make for a good party blast. Well you can say that I am pretty much decent because I saw my boss dancing on the chairs. The ushers had actually had a tough time brining him back to the seat. No exaggerating. Me and my boss have varying personalities hitting two extremes between a gentleman and a downright ----- ( pardon me but you can fill in the appropriate adjective)

    Story

The story goes as thus - So there is this school dropout Vikram who has a love hate relationship with Jyothika, who seems pretty educated (actually pretty and educated) than the rest. While Vikram loves to settle things peacefully than wielding his fists , which he seems to be good at, Jyothika believes that the Pen is mightier than the sword. This town where they live in has a factory dumping its wastes in drinking water ( Does it sound I am obsessed with CIVIL ACTION). Vikram, Jyothika and her grandmother Paravai Muniamma leave for Chennai to meet the Minister Kalipandi who contested and won the seat from their place. Landing in Chennai, the trio actually meets with bigger Sharks, wreaking havoc in Chennai ( as if the powers that be who are already in power isn't enough) who are backed by none other than the Minister Kalipandi himself.

    Reasons to Watch

As much as the story goes it is the regular action flick on Tamil screen. So what is so Dhool about this. Here goes

    1. The love triangle between Reema ( aah ) Sen , Vikram and Jyothika ( another aah ). This triangle doesnt involve much tears and heart breaks, but provides comedy.

    2. Comedy from Vivek who actually has a soft corner for Reema sen. She says She is a cancerian , and our pal vivek thinks she has cancer.

    3. The fights seems pretty much real. Vikram seems pretty much capable of breaking a goons hand bare handed. (Is this information handy enough). Except for this one scene where vikram does a 2160 turn ( that's 360 degrees multiplied 6 times) to hit 3 goons. Needless to say, the goons drop dead. After all its 2160 degrees effect. Got to be Dhool.

    4. The songs and dance . Paravai Muniamma ( jyothika's grand mom) is actually a folk singer, who also gave the hit song - Madurai Veeran. The other songs are just .. What can I say, Dhool. The title song ''Dhool'' and ''Gundu Ponnu'' ( I sing this to my wife - Gundu Ponnu means stout girl) and INTHADI KAPE KALENGEY AMMADI KARAKOZHUMBE ( compares the girl to chilly curry) and the best of all romantic songs which was played more than once on my wedding reception ''Asai Asai''

Note - Gundu Ponnu was in the same tune as Aqua's Jungle Song 5. This one is reserved for gals. Its breathtaking Vikram ( had a tough time with Flora was floored for Vikram grrr).

    Scenes

Vikram holds a goons hand. The guy resists but his had gets fractured.

Watch out for the jealous Jyothika. Excellent facial expressions.

One scene where Vikram is convincing Reema that how he really wanted to learn English.

Vikram is doing push ups - Reema points to him and tells Jyothika childishly - I want that (much like a little kid asking I need that ice cream)

Jyothika and Vikram get locked in a cupboard. Sighs Ive got one cupboard which aint big enough. Wish there were cupboards meant only for this.

    A Feast for Action Lovers

Dharani is an excellent director and one must give credit for his earlier works however his recent "Kuruvi" was a disaster. The story is simple. It goes on like this- A man from a village goes to city for a need and end up fighting against dangerous henchmen and local rowdies who eliminate anybody in their path. The action scenes are good. 'Chiyaan' Vikram along with an excellent cast that features Jyothika, Reema Sen, Paravai Muniyamma and especially Vivek has done a near flawless job. The comedy tracks are rib-tickling especially that "Ladoo" comedy. Witty dialogues make you feel very light in an otherwise pacey action flick. Shayaji Shinde has come up with a brilliant performance alongside with Chitti Babu as his sidekick. I highly recommend this for every action fan. Watch "Dhool" you won't be disappointed. I watched this movie like 20-25 times and still raring to watch it each time its shown on TV. Dharani-Vidyasagar combo never disappointed in music and all songs are chartbusters. Some scenes may defy logic but you don't have to overlook it too much because quality entertainment is guaranteed!

Scenes lifted from Andrzej Barkkowiak's Romeo must die.

i was watching the movie "Romeo must Die" directed by Andrej Barkowiak. The movie came in 2000. In that movie there are scenes where Jet li hits the bad guys and the scene is shown in like X-ray vision where the punch gets the bone breaking.

Now, if you remember in this movie which came in 2003 where vikram breaks Pasupathy's arms and its shown in exactly the same way.

Its pathetic to see Indian film makers aping Hollywood flicks and lifting scenes from there.

Apart from that the cast is good and Pasupathy makes good impression of an actor. Apart from that its just another action film with comedy of vivek spread allover.

Above average commercial flick thanks to its characters

Usually you get a hero, a villain, a heroine and a vamp but there's just so much more in this movie to make it stand out. You get all those plus a politician villain supported by an entire gang of rowdies led by an EVIL WOMAN, plus a mentally unstable cop plus Vivek plus Paravai Muniyamma plus Reema plus Chitty Babu, all of whom have an active role to play in the movie and plot.

The story isn't anything new and you don't expect it to be. The reason that this movie stands out is because of its unique characters. The use of a female villain was brilliant but due to lack of physical capability and height, rather than acting ability, she was not as intimidating as she could have been. Well, she was rather more entertaining rather than disturbing like the female cop in Kadhalan.

The politician villain is less clichéd because of the brilliant comical actor who really throws out a unique performance. Him getting screwed over by softcore queen 'Shakeela' was really too good. Some of the songs by Vidyasagar are good. In all, a very entertaining flick that is worth watching at least once.
