Every time a movie buff hears the name of Marvel’s Ghost Rider, perhaps the first name to ring the bell must be Nicolas Cage’s, for he embodied the anti-hero the most immaculately in his own solo movie series on the character. In fact, his performance was so on-point as Johnny Blaze that many would argue that no one could embody him better than Cage.
Ghost Rider in the comics.
But Cage couldn’t have pulled off this incredible feat just like that. If anything, he went to great lengths and did whatever it required to channel his inner Blaze to give fans as remarkable a performance as he did. And these great lengths that he went to have made it more than evident that perhaps no other actor could play the anti-hero better than the 60-year-old legend.

Nicolas Cage has showcased through his extreme performances that he can embody just about any character, be it a hero or a villain, as efficiently and intensely as possible. That said, it’s worth noticing that while his remarkable acting skills have also granted him the golden ticket into two of the biggest franchises in Hollywood, he has only been cast in heroic and anti-heroic roles.
Nicolas Cage in Dream Scenario.
While he has absolutely nailed it as all of those characters, the truth is that Cage actually wants to play one forgotten nemesis of Batman who has only ever been played by the late Vincent Price in the late 1960s: Egghead. What’s more, he wants to play the character in Matt Reeves’ franchise of the Dark Knight, and has let his feelings known to Warner Bros. about the same as well!

From “Top Gun” and “Beverly Hills Cop” to “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “National Treasure,” Jerry Bruckheimer has had a hand in many of the biggest blockbusters in Hollywood history. But in a video message revealed to the crowd at CinemaCon, the legendary producer said that his latest project, “Young Woman and the Sea” is his highest testing movie ever.
The upcoming film, which Bruckheimer produced for Disney, stars Daisy Ridley as Gertrude “Trudy” Ederle, the Olympic swimmer who became the first woman to successfully swim the English Channel in 1926. She also set a record for the fastest time — beating the five men who had accomplished the feat before her — that remained intact for a quarter century.
Per the film’s official synopsis, “Daisy Ridley stars as the accomplished swimmer who was born to immigrant parents in New York City in 1905. Through the steadfast support of her older sister and supportive trainers,...

Jimmy Kimmel was criticized for joking about Robert Downey Jr.’s past issues with drug addiction at his otherwise well-received fourth hosting stint at last month’s Oscars, but Downey himself apparently he wasn’t offended.
In the awards show’s opening monologue, Kimmel joked “this is the highest point of Robert Downey Jr.’s long and illustrious career. Well, one of the highest points.”
Downey took the joke in stride. When he responded by touching his finger to his nose, Kimmel doubled down. “Was that ‘too on the nose,’ or was that a drug motion you made?”
In a new interview with Esquire, Downey was asked to comment on the joke. His reply was simple: “I don’t care. I love Jimmy Kimmel. I think he’s a national treasure.”
The two have a long history. Downey has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! 11 times since 2008.

Diano died Jan. 22 at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena of coronary issues after a battle with prostate cancer, his wife, still photographer Gemma Lamana, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Diano served as president of the Society of Camera Operators from 2003-04 before deciding not to run for a second term.
“To write that David was a one-of-a-kind friend to those of us who worked with him would be an understatement,” Soc historical chair Michael Frediani said in a statement. “His kindness, artistry and boyish smile endeared him to countess friends and fellow industry colleagues — and that is what set him apart from many,”

Just barely 60, Nicolas Cage may actually be nearing retirement, saying he only has a handful of movies left in him. And according to the Oscar winner, National Treasure 3 will not be one of them, throwing shade at Disney, saying there was no treasure to be found at the studio. With that, that might be the nail in the coffin of a National Treasure 3, as now mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer is saying a third installment won’t go forward without Cage’s involvement.
Bruckheimer recently told MovieWeb that he personally has hopes for a threequel but it all falls on Cage. “Well, we hope there’s a National Treasure 3. We’ve been working on it for quite a while. We have a brilliant writer working on it right now, so hopefully, if we get a script in a timely fashion, we’ll send it to Nic [Cage] and, if he likes it,...

One of Disney’s most popular and profitable original franchises is the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Based on the popular Disney ride, the series has made five feature films earning over $4.5 Billion worldwide as well as various video games, comics, books, and toys. It is no wonder Disney wants to keep the series going with another film. But the series’ future is up in the air.
Aside from the now-canceled Margot Robbie film Disney is apparently developing what many assumed would be Pirates of the Caribbean 6 with many hopeful that the series’ lead Johnny Depp would somehow be convinced to return as franchise lead Captain Jack Sparrow.
Now it appears that we won’t see the legendary pirate captain in the next film as the franchise’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, seems to confirm our worst fears. During an interview while promoting his latest film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare...

Nicolas Cage won’t be back to National Treasure 3, and he says that the film isn’t happening at Disney.
By this stage, it’s hardly surprising that this particular story has come to this particular conclusion. But hey: National Treasure 3 isn’t going to happen.
The news was confirmed by its star, Nicolas Cage, who’s on the promotional trail at the moment over at the SXSW Festival. He was asked directly by Screen Rant if National Treasure 3 was going to happen, and gave a fairly to the point reply.
“No, there is no National Treasure 3”, he said. “If you want to find treasure, don’t look at Disney, okay? It’s not there.”
That was the end of his statement on the matter. Shit, I’ve got to get 300 words out of this.
The only sliver of surprise about it was earlier this year,...

Austin, TX – One thing that SXSW attracts are movie stars. With the big premieres headquartered at the famous art deco Paramount Theatre in Austin, audiences were treated to appearances by the legendary Susan Sarandon (“Gutter”), a reunited Cheech & Chong, and for the creme de la creme we were in the “Cage.” The great Nicolas Cage appeared on behalf of “Arcadian.”

Nicolas Cage is one of the biggest names in the world of Hollywood thanks to his well-varied genres of movies, but he is also known for his eccentric roles, bordering on the realm of absurdity. This is especially true for his role as Ghost Rider.
Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage took on the role of Johnny Blaze, embodying the Ghost Rider character, in the superhero film released by Sony Pictures in 2007. Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, the movie proved to be a box office hit. Its success paved the way for a sequel, titled Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, which was released in 2012. However, it appears he won’t return as Ghost Rider again following his remarks about National Treasure 3.

If you want to find treasure, don't look at Disney, okay? Creating eye-catching movie posters is an art. In the past, we’ve all seen some gnarly one-sheets that miss the mark due to formulaic layouts or studio interference. Thankfully, today’s new poster for The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (shown below) is on target, with cast members looking cool, dangerous, and ready for action. In the explosive poster, members of the film’s murder squad brandish weapons in preparation to punch holes in the enemy, and they’re not about to take any prisoners. The poster implies a fun, action-filled romp with Ritchie’s flare for ensemble dynamics.

The first trailer for Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare debuted today.
Based upon recently declassified files of the British War Department and inspired by true events, The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare is an action-comedy that tells the story of the first-ever special forces organization formed during WWII by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials including author Ian Fleming. The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly “ungentlemanly” fighting techniques. Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British Sas and modern Black Ops warfare.

Renewed interest in Nicolas Cage’s career has led to many of the actor’s films being reappraised over the past few years, from ’90s blockbusters to off-the-wall indies. If Cage gets his way, the next film to ascend to classic status could be “Bringing Out the Dead.”
The 1999 film, which marked the final collaboration (to date) between director Martin Scorsese and screenwriter Paul Schrader, stars Cage as a paramedic who endures a spiritual crisis when he begins to question the value of his vocation. It’s a quintessential Schrader script, weaving Biblical themes like faith, doubt, death, rebirth, and transcendence together against the secular backdrop of unforgivingly harsh New York streets.
In a new interview with Deadline, Cage opened up about his fondness for the Scorsese movie and the artistic risks it allowed him to take.

The National Treasure movies, while preposterous in plot, are actually quite good pieces of escapist entertainment. Who doesn’t want to see Nicolas Cage steal the Declaration of Independence or clear his family’s name of Lincoln’s assassination? Considering that the two movies collectively grossed over $800 million worldwide, it’s surprising that we never got a third entry. And it’s not just us that thinks so, but also Benjamin Franklin Gates himself.
Speaking with Deadline, Nicolas Cage championed the National Treasure movies as plenty of fun but was also blown away that Disney dropped the ball in building the franchise. “I mean, I enjoy them too, and I think Jon Turteltaub made a couple of classic films for the whole family. While Nicolas Cage is loved by the internet for his many meme material, the actor is equally loved for his genuinely acclaimed acting performances. He has been in some of the most beloved movies of yesteryear, with films like The Rock, Face/Off, Con Air and the National Treasure movies. While Cage has been in movies of varying quality due to his need to pay off some of his notorious expenses, he has been able to maintain his artistic integrity by starring in movies like Pig and the recent Dream Scenario. Every broadcast network and streaming platform is focused on the same thing heading into 2024: trying to get back up and running following a year in which Hollywood’s historic dual strikes shut down production for months.
In the wake of the writers and performers strikes, streamers and networks are attempting to solidify their programming pipelines as several scripted comedies and dramas have been hampered by the work stoppage. HBO, for example, was quick to announce that the third seasons of Euphoria and The White Lotus as well as the sophomore run of The Last of Us will now arrive in 2025. Other platforms, like Amazon, have scrapped programming because delayed production is now affecting their marketing plans for 2025, when the streamer already has a heavy spend planned.

Nicolas Cage comes from one of film’s most esteemed families. His uncle is Francis Ford Coppola (“The Godfather”) and his aunt is actress Talia Shire. Not wanting to appear like his career was the productive of nepotism, when he started acting he took the name Cage from one of his favorite comic book characters, Marvel’s Luke Cage.
Cage’s film career started off quite auspiciously with a small role in the popular comedy “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” when he was just 18 years old. He followed that up with a lead role in the cult classic “Valley Girl.” Both films interestingly dealt with the life of teenagers in the Los Angeles suburbs of the San Fernando Valley.
For his third film Cage would finally agree to work with his uncle when he appeared in Coppola’s “Rumble Fish,” followed the following year by Coppola’s “The Cotton Club.

For his third film Cage would finally agree to work with his uncle when he appeared in Coppola’s “Rumble Fish,” followed the following year by Coppola’s “The Cotton Club.

Once upon a time, Roger Ebert held that "no movie featuring either Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmet Walsh in a supporting role can be altogether bad." The Stanton-Walsh rule could be violated, as Ebert noted in his scathing review of the unfathomably awful "Wild Wild West," but you only did yourself a favor if you cast one of these gentlemen. The script could be dire and the direction poor, but an appearance from Stanton and/or Walsh was/is – we lost Stanton in 2017, but Walsh is still going strong at 88 years old — only ever a joyous occasion.
The Stanton-Walsh rule applies to other character actors, and I can't think of many performers who've given me more pleasure over the last few decades than Sam Rockwell. He first popped for me in Tom Dicillo's hugely underrated indie comedy "Box of Moonlight" as a ball of non-conformist energy who...

Nicolas Cage’s dream is to exit film acting on a “high note,” according to the “Dream Scenario” star.
Cage, whose career has spanned almost a half-century, told Uproxx that he’s ready to say “adios” to the big screen and instead opt for working in the TV landscape, especially after binging the “magnificent” series “Breaking Bad” in 2022.
“I like staying fresh. I mean, I like to keep mixing it up. I want to do it all,” Cage said. “And I feel that I’ve, at this point – after 45 years of doing this; that in over 100 movies – I feel I’ve pretty much said what I’ve had to say with cinema. And I’d like to leave on a high note and say, ‘Adios.'”
Cage added, “I think I have to do maybe three or four more movies before I can get there, and then hopefully switch formats...

It’s an interesting month ahead on Hulu, as the streamer rolls out some of the series it’s been keeping in its back pocket for the holiday season.
On December 15, the first season of Such Brave Girls will arrive. The sitcom follows a dysfunctional family – and we mean dysfunctional! – that includes real-life sisters Kat Sadler and Lizzie Davidson. British comedian Sadler has previously written for The News Quiz, Hypothetical, and Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable, but this is her first big TV project. “Everything we joke about in the show is from a place of lived experience,” she told Funny Women. “I wish I could say this is a heart-warming show about overcoming trauma, but that would be a lie. It’s about three toxic, damaged egomaniacs manipulating the world and each other for their own personal gain, vengeance and glory…just like in Little Women.” Sounds good!

Nicolas Cage broke out in laughter during a recent Vanity Fair video interview when forced to watch the infamous scene from 2004’s “National Treasure” in which his character, treasure hunter and cryptographer Benjamin Gates, says for the first time, “I’m gonna steal the Declaration of Independence.” The line of dialogue has been a calling card for Cage’s career for 19 years now and counting, and it’s inspired countless memes and parodies on the internet.
“How do you take something that is so profoundly ridiculous and really try to sell it?” Cage said while watching the infamous moment. “What I really like about that scene just seeing it again for the first time in however many years is I like the positivity of the character. He really believes this. He really reveres it. I think that’s charming.”
“I can’t even say it without laughing,” he added about the line.

The new Muppets show is the latest in a string of cancellations at Disney+ as the streamer cuts back on original programming.
It’s a tough time to work in the TV and Film industry right now. With cancellations coming left right and centre, and still relatively few new shows announced after the conclusion of the writers and actors strikes, it looks like streamers might be looking at some of their existing programming and wondering how on earth it’s supposed to turn a profit.
The latest casualty of these tightening purse strings is The Muppets Mayhem, which won’t be renewed by Disney+ after its first season aired in May this year.
It follows Disney+ original shows National Treasure, Doogie Kamealoha, M.D., Willow, Big Shot and Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, all of which have been axed this year. The Spiderwick Chronicles, an upcoming adaptation of the fantasy novels...

The Electric Mayhem Band is breaking up after Disney+ canceled its latest Muppets show.
The streamer has axed live-action series The Muppets Mayhem, which comes from The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg, after one season.
The ten-part series was released in May but Disney+ never disclosed any ratings for the show.
The cancellation marks a blow for plans for a wider Muppetverse; Goldberg previously expressed interest in branching out using the classic IP, which includes some of Disney’s most recognizable characters.
It is the latest cancelation at Disney+ this year; other shows to have been axed include The Spiderwick Chronicles, which has since been shopped to Roku, National Treasure, Doogie Kamealoha, M.D., Willow, Big Shot and Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.

It’s safe to say that if there was ever a handbook on how to thrive across genres, Nicholas Cage wrote it. Cage’s career has been a rollercoaster ride, with highs like winning an Academy Award for Best Actor and lows like starring in some less-than-stellar films. However, whether he’s playing a lovelorn romantic lead or a quirky, eccentric character, there’s no denying that he has left his footprints in the sands of showbiz. He’s like the chameleon of Hollywood; one moment he’s a tough guy in Con Air and the next he’s making viewers laugh in National Treasure. His eclectic...

Throughout the happenings at Princeton in 1955, there's an insidious feeling that Quantum Leap Season 2 Episode 6 will grow in significance as the season progresses.
On the surface, it's an exciting quest adventure, marrying the historical enchantment of the National Treasure franchise with the life-threatening pursuit by universal baddies of the Indiana Jones adventures.
But it also includes several pivotal moments for Ben and the Quantum Leap team as the secret of time travel has been revealed, and major events are set in motion.
Of course, there have canonically been others who have known about Ziggy and Quantum Leap. The O.G. series had Lothos and its Evil Leapers. Even Quantum Leap Season 1 had Martinez and his murderous military/government bosses. And, of course, there's Janis and Beth Cavalicci.
But sharing the secret of quantum time travel has always been understood by the team as something they cannot share outside the inner circle,...

White is developing an untitled script for the BFI, the first time she has written a feature script herself, and the plot is based on her personal coming of age story. “It’s the story of me at 13, set in the world of fashion in early 1970s,” she told Deadline in an interview. “It’s very fun, sexy and hopefully moving.”
We hear the film will follow 13-year-old Gingernut as she grows up with the fur trade’s decline playing out in the background. The plot will see her trying to make sense of her parents’ dysfunctional relationship and include themes of family, growing up, betrayal, love and loss.

One of Disney’s most beloved sports movies is turning 30. 1993 saw the release of Cool Runnings, the movie that’s based on the story of the first Jamaican bobsled team that competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics. Legendary Entertainment has acquired the film, television, and ancillary rights to Paolo Coelho’s novel The Alchemist and will steer the feature film development of the project with Sony’s TriStar Pictures and Palmstar.
Jack Thorne, who adapted the family hit Wonder, and Netflix’s Enola Holmes, is attached to write.
The Alchemist tells the story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy, who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure as extravagant as any ever found. The story of the treasures Santiago finds along the way are pieces of wisdom which encourage those who find them to listen to their hearts, read the omens strewn along life’s path and follow their dreams. Originally written in Portuguese in 1988, Coelho’s novel became an international bestseller, and holds the record for the most translated work by a living author. The title has won several literary awards including the Grand Prix Litteraire Elle,...

The elusive feature adaptation of Paulo Coelho’s popular novel The Alchemist has gone from lead to gold — again.
Legendary Entertainment has secured the film, TV and ancillary rights to develop a feature based on the classic novel, with TriStar Pictures on board to release. Jack Thorne — whose film credits include Enola Holmes and The Swimmers — is attached to write the feature adaptation of a popular 1988 novel that has seen a road to the big screen as winding as the traveler’s philosophical journey in the book.
Laurence Fishburne had wanted to develop Coelho’s best-selling book for 16 years after acquiring the film rights from Warner Bros. Pictures with the intent of making the movie themselves. Warners acquired author Coelho’s book — about a traveler journeying the world during the Inquisition in order to find man’s purpose in the world — in 2003 as a Fishburne vehicle.
In 2008, The Weinstein Co.

Penn wasn’t concerned with making blockbusters like some of his contemporaries. Many of Penn’s films were made with modest to low budgets, which sometimes meant Penn would command a much lesser salary than his peers. But this was by design, as Penn couldn’t imagine himself making a certain amount of money all at once.
“Don’t get me wrong, I would like to get paid, but I don’t know what you do with anything over $10 million. After that, it doesn’t make any sense to me,” Penn once told The New York Times.
