'Walking Dead' Ratings Tick Upward This Week

2017-11-14T12:07:14-08:00'Walking Dead' Ratings Tick Upward This Week

After two consecutive weeks of ratings declines and the least-watched season premiere in years, The Walking Dead posted a ratings gain this week, suggesting that the series' audience might have stabilized. Before you get too excited, though, understand that the gain consisted of only 170,000 viewers over last week's audience. If anything, it looks like season 8 may be settling into its ratings comfort zone. That's the good news. The bad news is that that comfort zone is the lowest of any season since the second.

Via TV By the Numbers.

After two weeks of declines following its season premiere, “The Walking Dead” improved a little in the ratings Sunday night.

The cast and crew take to the road in last week’s episode. #Twd

Review: Sergio Martino's "The Strange Vice Of Mrs. Wardh" (1971); UK Blu-ray Release From Shameless

  • CinemaRetro
By Adrian Smith

Julie Wardh (Edwige Fenech) is a woman who needs some time off men: she attempts to escape her sado-masochistic relationship with Jean (Ivan Rassimov) by marrying Neil Wardh (Alberto de Mendoza), an ambassador at the Italian embassy in Austria. But things are not that simple. Julie suffers from erotic nightmares, wherein she makes love to Jean whilst being showered in broken glass, but continues to proclaim her hatred for him to anyone that will listen, including jean himself. At a friend’s party, where women tear paper dresses from each other and wrestle naked, Julie meets the cool George (George Hilton) a man determined to seduce Mrs Wardh, regardless of her husband or complicated romantic history. He seems kind and he rides a motorbike, so it does not take Mrs Wardh long to fall for him.

Of course, this being a giallo, in the middle of this

Amanda Coe Bringing Famous UK Scandal to TV with “The Trial of Christine Keeler”

Coe: United Agents

Television writer and novelist Amanda Coe’s next project will explore the UK’s notorious Profumo Affair. Per Deadline, the “Apple Tree Yard” writer-producer and Ecosse Films are bringing “The Trial of Christine Keeler” to BBC One. The new series will present the story of Keeler, a 19-year-old whose affair with Secretary of State for War John Profumo in the 1960s led to the resignations of Profumo and Prime Minister Harold Macmillan.

“In 1963, [Profumo] denied any impropriety in a personal statement to the House of Commons, but was forced to admit the truth a few weeks later,” Deadline summarizes. “He resigned from the government, but the repercussions severely damaged Prime Minister Harold Macmillan who resigned that same year. His Conservative Party was marked by the scandal, which may have contributed to its defeat by The Labour Party in the 1964 general election.”

Described as a “behind the headlines look at the sexual and cultural politics,” “The Trial of Christine Keeler” will present Keeler as a headstrong young woman refusing to cooperate with the men attempting to “silence and exploit” her. According to Coe, Keeler’s experience was “the Salem Witch Trial meets O.J. Simpson — a perfect storm of gender, class, race, and power that resonates into the world we’re living in today.”

“The Trial of Christine Keeler” will be executive produced by Coe, the BBC’s Lucy Richer, and Ecosse’s Kate Triggs and Douglas Rae. Production is expected to begin in 2018.

Life in Squares,” “Room at the Top,” and the UK version of “Shameless” are among Coe’s TV writing credits. Her latest book is “Everything You Do Is Wrong,” a mystery centered on a young woman who cannot speak or remember who she is.

Amanda Coe Bringing Famous UK Scandal to TV with “The Trial of Christine Keeler” was originally published in Women and Hollywood on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Bohemian Rhapsody Casts Freddie Mercury’s Boyfriend

We’ll be the first to admit that we weren’t sure what to make of the casting of Mr. Robot star Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury in the upcoming biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. But after seeing the actor in action thanks to a recent set video (seen above), we can safely say that 20th Century Fox picked the right man for the job.

While we don’t know too much about the film just yet, it will reportedly spotlight “a 15-year period, starting in 1970 when Mercury met his bandmates, up through their legendary Live Aid performance in 1985.” Now, with production well underway, the rest of the cast is starting to assemble and today, Deadline brings word that a key role has been filled. That’d be the part of Jim Hutton, Freddie’s boyfriend.

Bringing him to life will be Aaron McCusker, who’s perhaps best known for his work on Showtime’s Shameless.
