Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor Khan has talked about how the concept of beauty has seen a shift and added that she cannot relate when she sees herself with filters and edits. Giving audiences a peak into her personal life, Kareena said: “I think now there is an entire shift to beauty and rawness. I like the fact that there are little lines on my face, I can’t relate when I see myself with filters and edits.”
Kareena, who has never shied away from flaunting her real skin on social media and even in films, added: “I’m the first one to say that I am not putting on makeup and I like it like that because I have been like that right from ‘Chameli’, ‘Refugee’ and ‘Dev’.”

When we talk about film royalty, one name should reverberate worldwide: Kapoor.
India’s eminent acting dynasty first appeared on screen in the 1930s, and still dominates to this day. After generations of raising male actors, the family turned to its daughters and, at the turn of the century, ushered in the era of Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Khan was always outside the Bollywood mold of singing, dancing, beautified heroines. Early films like “Refugee” and “Chameli” showed her capacity for drama, while commercial projects like “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” and “Mujhse Dosti Karoge” cast her as an over-the-top beauty queen (and retroactive feminist icon).
After more than 20 years leading Hindi films, the actor takes her first plunge into producing with Hansal Mehta’s “The Buckingham Murders,” premiering October 14 at the BFI London Film Festival.

The actor spoke to the media on Wednesday and was in a terrific mood, he joked and pulled the leg of his co-actors, who attended the press conference.
As a reporter kept taking his name to probe him for a question, his co-actor Ram Kapoor nudged Rahul to answer, to which Rahul said in jest, “Yeah yeah, I’m not cross-eyed. I’ve been looking at him all this while.”
His reply sent across a wave of laughter in the movie hall where the film’s press conference was organised.
‘Neeyat’ is a classic whodunit mystery in which Vidya Balan is investigating the alleged murder of Ashish Kapoor played by Ram. Rahul plays Ashish’s brother in the film.

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, who recently kickstarted the shoot of her upcoming film ‘The Crew’, has shared that she likes to keep a healthy mix of mainstream and off-beat films in her filmography and that her titular role in ‘Chameli’ is a testament to that.
‘Chameli’, which was released almost 2 decades ago, was directed by Sudhir Mishra, and saw Kareena playing the role of a sex worker – a brave choice for an actor in that era. The film received many accolades for its storytelling and Kareena’s performance and proved to be a milestone in her career.
Talking about making brave choices, Kareena told Ians: “I have always been a risk-taker and it’s because of my passion for acting. That’s the reason behind me doing a ‘Golmaal’ and an off-beat film like ‘Omkara’, a ‘Yuva’ or a ‘Chameli’.”

Mumbai, Feb 22 (Ians) Actor, writer and director Rahul Bose, who will be seen in the upcoming web series ‘Taj – Divided by Blood’, has shared what prompted him to take up the project and also briefed about his role in the series.

Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra, who is making a foray into the digital content world with crime thriller show "Hostages", says every good story comes with an element of suspense.
Mishra was interacting with the media while promoting "Hostages" along with cast members Ronit Roy, Tisca Chopra, Parvin Dabas, Dalip Tahil, and Aashim Gulati, apart from Nikhil Madhok - Executive Vice President and Head of Original Content, Hotstar, here.
Known for helming films like "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi", "Dharavi" and "Chameli" -- which touched upon social issues -- Mishra was asked how different it was for him to direct a thriller.
"I have done a thriller. I made a film called 'Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin' before thrillers were fashionable here. It was released two years before 'Satya'. Personally, I like suspense and thriller films," he said.
"I think every good story is actually a suspense story in the sense that it has to surprise you.

You really need to hold on your breath to see what’s there inside the story. Well, it’s about none other than the sexy siren of Bollywood, the ‘Chikni Chameli’ herself, Katrina Kaif. And the occasion, her swimsuit photo shoot for Harpers Bazaar Bride’s latest edition. Katrina was accompanied by the ace designer and friend Manish Malhotra in Maldives. Katrina briefed her journey with this caption: “Maldives …. Harpers Bazaar Bride India shoot. 3 planes and a 12 hour journey later….we have reached.” Talking about Katrina, she looked sizzling in her white cut-out swimsuit that glowed under the rainbow sky. Katrina looked every inch of hotness personified during the shoot. Lately, she was going through an emotional turmoil post her alleged break-up with boyfriend, Ranbir Kapoor. There were speculations doing rounds about their togetherness again, after the break-up. But as usual no confirmation yet.Whatever it be, Katrina is a...

Parched
Starring Tannishtha Chatterjee, Radhika Apte , Surveen Chawla, Lehar Khan
Written & Directed by Leena Yadav
Long after Parched played out its poignant plot, I kept thinking about the four women at the forefront of Leena Yadav’s sparkling saga of patriarchal tyranny. The enduring grief and the brief bouts of buoyancy that Rani (Tannishtha Chatterjee), Lajjo (Radhika Apte), Bijlee (Surveen Chawla) and Janaki (Lehar Khan) carry with themselves, lingers in our hearts and minds long after the last frame of Leena’s luminous work dies down.
The film is shot with such inescapable beauty by Russell Carpenter (who moves with fluent fecundity from the soggy sappiness of Titanic to the parched desertscape of this walloping work on women’s empowerment) that you fear for the inner lives of the characters. Would their emotional existence be able to withstand the sheer extraneous splendor of the storytelling?
The answer, my friend, is blowing passionately in the winds.

”Silver Screen” by Fawzan Husain is a series of images taking a closer look at our prolific film industry “Bollywood”.
Everything that is so essentially ‘Bollywood’…the varied components that come together, and work in harmony to make a film are depicted in Fawzan’s photographs. He shoots a different view of Bollywood by capturing behind the scenes action on the sets: no frontal portraits, no posing for his camera. His photographs portray the real picture, the real people without the glamour, artifacts and ‘larger than life’ idea usually associated with Bollywood Silver Screen led him to `Beyond Silverscreen’. A look at how we Indian’s have fascination with our Filmy folks. Once he started looking around, he could see them all around, Apart from the billboards he could find them in restaurants, on Kites, in gyms, in rickshaws. Kareena Kapoor Khan is very proud of being part of the last Salman Khan blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan. And for those scoffing at the brevity of her part, she scoffs back, "All the actresses are dying to work with Salman. Even the ones he doesn't want to work with. Unke ghar ka chakkar lagati rehti hain. Salman has told me how they message him." Could Kareena be talking about Priyanka Chopra? "I am not talking about anyone in particular. But I love massy films. It's easy for people to say, why did Kareena do Singham or Golmaal? Arrey, but that's my journey! I am first and foremost a commercial mainstream star. That's where I come from. Lekin kabhi kabhi ghar se nikalna bhi toh chahiye. Speaking of Priyanka, Kareena turned down Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadkane Do. Apparently, because she wasn't keen on working with Ranveer Singh. Kareena clarifies, "It wasn't because of any actor.

While she is an actor par excellence, it seems Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan also loves (rather wants) to be known as the 'item queen'. In past few years she has done an array of exotic and naughty dance numbers (in films like Gabbar, Heroine, Dabnagg 2, Don, Billu, Agent Vinod) and now she adds yet another track to her list with 'Mera Naam Mary Hai' from the film Brothers.
While Kareena tries every bit to grab eyeballs with her latkas and jhatkas, hoot for her, Bebo somehow looks too sophisticated for the cheesy item number. Well, here are the five reasons that will make you also believe how Kareena looks a misfit in this song or she is simply not meant to do these numbers. Take a look:

The show opened with rehearsal clips of the contestants showing how hard they had been rehearsing for this week’s performance. It also transpired that Shakti, Ashish, Mouni and Akshat were all unwell due to stress of rehearsals. Shakti was suffering from, low blood pressure and her doctor had advised her complete bed rest which meant she was unable to perform in this episode. She did however request her fans to keep voting for her. There was no face-off this week due to the Ganesh Chaturthi festival which meant all the contestants were safe.
The special guests of Saturday’s episode were Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan who had come to promote their latest film Khoobsurat. Fawad is also a Pakistani TV serial actor and so a lot of his own fans were present in the audience.

Daawat-e-Ishq not only features the brand new jodi of Aditya Roy Kapoor (Aashiqui 2) and Parineeti Chopra (Ishaqzaade) but sees Sajid-Wajid (Dabangg) composing their first Yash Raj venture. Needless to say, music enthusiasts are curious to see what is in stock for us from this unlikely merger.
Daawat-e-Ishq’s songs have been penned by Kausar Munir while vocalists featured on the soundtrack include Sonu Nigam (‘Abhi Mujhme Kahin’ – Agneepath), Javed Ali (‘Tera Deedar Hai’ – Jannat 2), Sunidhi Chauhan (‘Sheila Ki Jawaani’ – Tees Maar Khan), Shreya Ghoshal (‘Chikni Chameli’ – Agneepath), Shalmali Kholgade (‘Pareshaan’ – Ishaqzaade) and Wajid (‘Jalwa’ – Wanted).
The title track opens the soundtrack and is an energetic qawaali/electronica by Javed Ali and Sunidhi Chauhan. Ali and Chauhan make a brilliant pair and complement the lyrical back and forth well. Munir’s expert grasp of Urdu is only surpassed by his impressive culinary innuendos. All in all, a powerful start to the soundtrack.

Once upon a time there lived a showman. He delivered films on larger than life canvases with heroic characters, melodramatic situations, grandiose dialogues and soul stirring music. We fondly recall the man who gave us iconic films like Karz, Ram-Lakhan, Saudagar, Pardes and many more! Sadly the showman never quite understood the evolution that happened to Indian cinema. He struggled to appeal to the changing tastes, the new generation’s demands and new age storytelling that Indian cinema had adopted. Today he continues to force the audiences to re-visit the style of cinema that once landed him with blockbusters however time and time again he gets rejected. Last Friday he tried again. And sadly last Friday, he failed again.

Mumbai, Dec 1: "Where are the soft, slightly unsure men with doubt and longing in their hearts?" asks filmmaker Sudhir Mishra, who feels men are not portrayed appropriately in Indian cinema.
Mishra, known for directing movies like "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi", "Chameli", and "Yeh Saali Zindagi", took to micro-blogging site Twitter to express his views on Indian cinema's portrayla of men.
"Indian cinema can reflect on violence in society, but they need to also reflect that many films show violent men as cool. Of course, strong roles should be written for women, but what kind of male morons are we portraying in our cinema?".

BollySpice Review: Sunidhi Chauhan creates history at Royal Albert Hall with a spellbinding concert!
Acclaimed Bollywood playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan proved on Friday night that she is indeed one of the best artists in the industry today. Her UK tour ended with a concert at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall where she belted out some of her greatest songs. Organised by TLC Events and Rock On Music, Sunidhi’s incredible energy was felt by the audience and they showed their love for her by cheering as loud as they possibly could.
The concert opened with the classic ‘Aisa Jadoo’ (Khakee) and Sunidhi followed it up with hit songs like ‘Halkat Jawaani’ (Heroine) ‘Ainvayi Ainvayi’ (Band Baaja Baaraat), ‘Bin Tere’ (I Hate Luv Storys), ‘Yaaram’ (Ek Thi Dayaan), ‘Ishq Sufiyana’ (The Dirty Picture) and ‘Bhaage Re Mann,’ (Chameli). One had to be present at the concert to see how charismatic Sunidhi sounded live. Though she is undoubtedly good on recording, she sounded ten times better live on stage.

To celebrate acclaimed Bollywood playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan’s UK tour, the team at BollySpice thought it would be cool to put together a special feature which looks at her greatest songs. Sunidhi is unsurprisingly in-demand amongst Bollywood filmmakers, who want her voice to be mimed by some of the hottest actresses in the industry. Her success is evident in the fact that she will be gracing the stage of the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London this Friday as part of her UK tour.
Having first acquired popularity by singing the songs for the film Mast (1999), Sunidhi is considered one of few who can use her voice to give it that provocative touch. She has sung to some of Bollywood’s most iconic tracks and has to some extent contributed towards the popularity of actresses like Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu by lending them her voice in their films.

Mumbai, April 23: He may be making films on serious issues, but Sudhir Mishra confesses that unlike his movies, he is a romantic person in real life.
"I am quite a romantic. I was also one of those studs who always falls in love," he told reporters here Monday at the music launch of "I Don't Luv You".
"Love is a difficult thing. Its not easy to maintain. In a pulpy love story they tell you lies about love, it causes great harm because it fades, reinvents. So friendship is a better word for me."
Known for films like "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi" and "Chameli", Mishra's last release, was "Inkaar". Starring Chitrangada.

Shreya Ghoshal had an amazing 2012, topping the charts and people’s hearts once more, from ‘Chikni Chameli’ to ‘Ishaqzaade’ and many many more. What is absolutely great news for all her fans and music lovers galore is that she is back with her 2013 U.K and European tour. However, Shreya is no stranger to the Royal Albert Hall, having sung there nearly a decade ago, in April of 2004, as part of the Udit Narayan show. Director Sudhir Mishra is infamous for the kind of movies he makes, and Inkaar is one amongst them. He always has this projection of female leads who are the strong ‘naye zamaane ki naari’ and he goes on to tell us why is this projection carried out.
He said that one of the biggest inspirations can be your own experiences. “I have met some very strong women in my life. These women stand up by themselves and are totally independent,” he added.
Talking more about his journey in the industry, Sudhir Mishra is quite content with his journey so far. He said,” I have made more than 12 films and done a lot of TV as well. What I am happy about is being able to function independently, which has worked in my favour. Being in this industry, you have to be prepared to take a lot. If you are appreciated at one time,...

Item numbers continued their reign in 2012 as a flurry of fast-beat, sexy dance songs hit the Bollywood music scene this past year. The styles ranged from traditional village songs and mujras to modern club hits and Punjabi beats. The sheer volume of item songs in 2012 was almost astounding, and the BollySpice team had a difficult time choosing just five. Therefore one thing is clear: item numbers are most definitely back and here to stay. As we look forward to more item number masala in 2013, let’s recap the fab five of 2012.
5. ‘Kaafirana a.k.a I Want Just You’ (Joker)
It’s hard to appreciate anything from the flop film Joker starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha. If there was one highlight of the movie, it was Chitrangadha Singh’s item number ‘Kaafirana’. The song was initially surrounded by controversy when the original version, titled ‘I Want Fakht You’ was leaked online.

Looking back at 2012 song-ically, it certainly was a year of cool sounds, new voices, groovy and groovin’ beats and over all some killer tracks. Many of the songs brought a new vibe to the music of the movies, songs flavored with new influences, and songs that we never would have thought we would hear in a Bollywood flick. There were classic beats that got us up and dancing not to mention the grooves of today that got us to move to the music. We met some new singers we can’t wait to hear more of and some of our favorites blew us away with outstanding vocals. 2012 was full of surprises and we enjoyed so many of them, 50 in fact and every single note! As always we loved these songs when they first came out but once we saw them in the movie we loved them even more! Check out...

2012 was yet another fantastic year of music in Indian Cinema and BollySpice salutes the unsung heroes of our music industry, our playback singers. The following ladies were particularly instrumental in making 2012’s songs soar that little bit higher as well as reserving a special place in our iPods, playlists and ultimately our hearts.
5. Mamta Sharma
Mamta Sharma burst into our music players and blasted our speakers with ‘Munni Badnaam’ in 2010 and has not stopped to take a breath. 2012 saw her jump back into the arena with ‘Anarkali Disco Chali’ (Houseful 2),’Aa Re Pritam Pyare’ (Rowdy Rathore) and the recently unleashed ‘Fevicol Se’. Granted, these tracks were not world-dominating like Munni but they left no stone unturned when it came to entertaining the masses.
4. Nandini Srikhar
