(1957 TV Movie)

Trivia

A remake of an episode from the U.S. television series Playhouse 90 (1956) (Requiem for a Heavyweight (1957)), broadcast live by the BBC in the U.K. Jack Palance (the star of the original U.S. broadcast) was unavailable for this version, so a nationwide hunt was mounted to find a suitable replacement. The part eventually went to an unknown actor, Sir Sean Connery.

This British production of Rod Serling's famous "Playhouse 90" play was in fact televised under Serling's original title, "Requiem For A Heavyweight". When the play was turned into a movie starring Anthony Quinn in 1962, the original title was retained in the U.S. and elsewhere, but the movie was inexplicably renamed "Blood Money" in Britain, perhaps in an (unsuccessful) effort to bolster its box-office chances.
