I'm only just now catching up with this year's edition of De Filmkrant's best-known project, Slow Criticism 2012, for which editor Dana Linssen has invented a new game: "It is called The Other Side(s) of the World and includes a lot of cinephile Wanderlust and cybernetic travel schedules. With the kind assistance of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (that made the films available trough a preview stream) we have assembled a dossier with reviews of most of the premieres in the Bright Future section. Playing along were film critics from all over the world who embarked on a virtual journey to see a film that came from a country or film culture that was as far from their current location as possible. Or was it?"

On Saturday, Jan. 21, lucky attendees of Sf Sketchfest got to witness an event a decade in the making: A staged recreation of the cult classic "Wet Hot American Summer" by (most of) the original cast at the Marines’ Memorial Theatre in San Francisco, CA.
The 2001 summer camp movie parody, made primarily by members of comedy troupe The State on a shoestring budget, was a box office failure upon its theatrical release. But the following decade has been kind to "Wet Hot." Today, the movie has become a sort of comedy calling card, and telling someone that you're a fan of "Wet Hot American Summer" immediately sends a message about your sense of humor: Straight faced and silly simultaneously, hyper self-aware and more than a little ironic.

Among the R-rated comedy boom of the last decade or so, there were the obvious, instant, giant hits: "Knocked Up," "Superbad," "The Hangover," "Bridesmaids." But there are also the films that, while they didn't turn the world upside down on release, have proven to be cult hits with long legs, films that have found their way into regular rotation just as much as their more monstrously-grossing cousins. One such film is "Role Models." Taking a respectable, but less than earth-shattering $67 million on initial release, the film performed better overseas than some of its more domestically-successful relatives, and has proven to be something of a cable TV and DVD favorite over the past four years. Paul Rudd, David Wain and Ken Marino are imminently reteaming for "Wanderlust," but the film's also proven a calling card for Timothy Dowling, who penned the original draft of the screenplay. The former actor has landed.

[1] Though everyone knows Marilyn Monroe is Lindsay Lohan's deceased classic Hollywood legend of choice, it may be Elizabeth Taylor she'll be playing next. Lohan has entered early talks to star in the Lifetime original movie Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story, about the tempestuous, Vatican-condemned romance between Taylor and actor Richard Burton. Oh boy. I can't do better than this old quote from Slate [2] (via Deadline [3]) about the things the two had in common, so I won't try: "Both had domineering stage mothers, little semblance of a real childhood, fame from a young age, substance abuse issues, public emotional outpourings, and copious amounts of tabloid drama. The key difference, though, is that Elizabeth Taylor had a true record of achievement before she became the most notorious movie star in America." Even with those similarities, it's tough to see how casting the troubled, famously unreliable Lohan could possibly seem like a good idea.

Los Angeles — Hollywood is respecting the environment and recycling – again.
The prospect of a few dozen sequels, prequels, remakes and assorted other reworkings of familiar tales might sound tiresome until you look over the guest list studios have lined up.
More Batman with "The Dark Knight Rises." More Peter Parker with "The Amazing Spider-Man." More short guys on a quest with "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey." More vamps and werewolves with "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2." More cool sunglasses with "Men in Black 3." More Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Incredible Hulk with "The Avengers." Have you been shouting "Knope in 2012" since the last episode of "Parks and Recreation?" Well, we now know who will play Leslie's (Amy Poehler) political rival. Comedian Paul Rudd will be joining the show, according to Vulture.
There had been speculation that Kathryn Hahn from the doomed "Free Agents" would be facing off with Ms. Knope, but it turns out that she'll be playing an adviser to one of Leslie's rivals. Now, we're not sure exactly how many episodes Rudd will appear in, but an insider tells the site that Rudd filmed his scenes in late December, and it's possible he'll be doing more than one episode.
Rudd has three movies coming out this year including "This is 40," "Wanderlust" and "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." Our favorite Paul Rudd line of all time? "Oh the weather outside is ... weather," from "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." What's yours?...

Screening of Wanderlust, starring Paul Rudd, Jennifer Aniston! Enter for a chance to snag some passes to our North Carolina screening of Wanderlust, the latest comedy from David Wain, the director of the uproariously-funny Role Models. The film tells of a couple who leaves the pressures of the big city and joins a freewheeling community where the only rule is to be yourself. George (Rudd) and Linda (Aniston) are an overextended, stressed out Manhattan couple. After George is downsized out of his job, they find themselves with only one option: to move in with George's awful brother in Atlanta...

2012 is just a few days away, and there are a slew of new posters for films that will be released in the new year (assuming none of them switch over to The Weinstein Company, at which point, their release dates will be changed seven times before the film is inevitably dumped on Blu-ray. What up, “Shanghai”!). For the new “Wanderlust” one-sheet, Universal has decided that audiences don’t want to see the faces of Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston. The poster features the two stars jumping into a lake, free of the worries of their former city lives. The David Wain-directed comedy opens February 24th after being moved from an October 2011 slot (and Rudd, Wain and co-writer Ken Marino all said the film would be coming out in January 2012 on last summer’s Comedy Bang Bang podcast). Release changes are sometimes indicators of a bad product, or too much studio tampering,...

Ever since the heady days of ‘the lean’ rom-com posters have been suitably low on inspiration. Not a day went by where you didn’t see Matthew McConaughey leaning toward some hire-a-face actress who in turn was leaning toward him. Oh how they leaned! The only thing stopping them from collapsing into a self satisfied heap of attractiveness was the mutually supportive lean based construction the two had created , it’s foundations composed entirely of commercially motivated whimsy and the structural integrity of McConaughey’s abs.
Well now that such lean-centric advertising has fallen into the realms of cliché and parody the first poster for Wanderlust is out and it looks set to revolutionise the way actors and actresses pose for promotional material that wishes to signal “fun and frothy romantic comedy!”:

Next year’s full to bursting with exciting movies, so to help out a little, here’s our pick of 25 must-see movies out in 2012…
As 2011 draws to a close, one eye is inevitably on the treats that are lying ahead for 2012. With that in mind, we've got our line-up of, as things stands, the 25 films that are brightest on our radar.
Now, a couple of disclaimers.
There are films that haven't made the cut here simply because we don't know a fat lot about them yet, or at least not enough to get us fired up. Jack The Giant Killer, Rise Of The Guardians, Red Tails, Chronicle and Dark Shadows all fit into that category.
Plus there are the films that we suspect will turn out strongly, but what we've seen of them so far hasn't blown us away (Brave, Skyfall). Then there are the potential hidden gems (ParaNorman) we'll...

The entertainment world is finally catching up to David Wain. The co-creator of television’s The State and Stella helped introduce a fresh new comic sensibility — as well as the likes of Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, and Elizabeth Banks — in Wet Hot American Summer, a certifiable cult classic. The first official movie trailer for Wanderlust with Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston has been released. The rom-com comes from director David Wain of Childrens Hospital and Wainy Days. Set for a February 2012 release, the trailer doesn’t do much to draw interest. Look -- "Wanderlust," starring Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston playing a couple who decide to live life on the road after Rudd loses his job, seems like a legitimately funny movie. But is there any way we can look at the trailer for movie and think anything other than "oh, so this is where Jen met her new boyfriend"? Because really, that's all we can picture.
Yes, "Wanderlust" is the flick where Aniston met her current beau, Justin Theroux. You can see him in the just-released trailer as a long-haired hippie.
It's always a shame when stars' personal lives overshadow their work, and Jen and Justin are not at fault here. They should be able to go out in public like any other normal couple, but unfortunately the country's general Jennifer Aniston obsession gets in the way of that happening without any fanfare. If only we didn't care so much about her personal life!

The trailer for Jennifer Aniston's latest comedy has landed over at Yahoo. No no, don't run. This, believe it or not, doesn't look like total and utter shit. The film, which co-stars Paul Rudd, Justin Theroux and Malin Akerman sees a jaded high-power couple stumble upon an anything-goes style commune where they meet a group of free spirited nudists and herbalists. The trailer makes the film out to be a wonderful little comedy with a hint of life-affirming wisdom and I'm loving it. What do you guys think? Wanderlust hits Irish cinemas March 2nd, 2012.

It's been 13 years since Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd starred together in the often-forgotten "The Object of My Affection," and now they're reteaming for a romantic comedy of a different sort.
In "Wanderlust," Rudd and Aniston play over-burdened New Yorkers, who are forced to leave the city and look for a life elsewhere after Rudd's character loses his job. So the couple packs up and heads to Atlanta where a job waits for Rudd with his brother's company.
They are soon back on the road again and find themselves stuck in a hippie commune, where things are generally a little more easy-going then they're used to. There they meet characters played by Malin Akerman and Aninston's real-life boyfriend, Justin Theroux.
"Wanderlust" was directed by David Wain, the man behind the cult hit, "Wet Hot American Summer," which also starred Rudd. He co-wrote the script with fellow "The State" alum Ken Marino.

2012 at the movies just wouldn't feel right without two comedy staples: Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston being in some sort of film with a gimmick. If you look at film history, some of the best comedies have the silliest concepts. If they can find that magic combination of runtime and gags, the possibilities are endless. Universal released new Jennifer Aniston, 'Wanderlust' movie trailer online. Yesterday afternoon, Universal Pictures released the first movie trailer (below) for their upcoming Jennifer Aniston comedy "Wanderlust," and I must say,it looks pretty funny as Jennifer's character wanders into a nudist colony with her husband for some good times. The movie stars: Paul Rudd, Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux, Malin Akerman, Kathryn Hahn, Lauren Ambrose, Ken Marino, Joe Lo Truglio, Kerri Kenney-Silver, and Alan Alda. In the new movie, characters George (Paul Rudd) and Linda (Jennifer Aniston) are a stressed out couple in Manhattan,New York. After George gets laid off from his job, they find themselves with only one option, to move in with George's awful brother in Atlanta. On the way there, George and Linda stumble into a weird town named Elysium, and see a nude guy upon arrival. Elysium ends up possibly being a fresh start for George and Linda,...

Looks like Paul Rudd is going from playing a hippie in Our Idiot Brother to hanging out with a whole commune of them in David Wain's Wanderlust. He's back to playing the straight man this time as a New Yorker who is down on his luck and loses his job, forcing him and his wife to move in with his brother in Atlanta. After being frustrated with their new lifestyle, they decide to throw it all away and go off the grid at Elysium, a wacky outdoor community filled with all kinds of colourful characters. David Wain and co-writer Ken Marino previously teamed with Paul Rudd on the surprisingly hilarious Role Models and the cult classic Wet Hot American Summer. Adding Jennifer Aniston to the mix will certainly give this a lot more mainstream appeal, but will it be as funny? The fact that it was delayed to February could be a bad sign,...

Nudism, hallucinogenic teas, luxurious beards … no wonder Jen Aniston and Justin Theroux got together after shooting their upcoming comedy Wanderlust together. Due out February 24, the movie’s sweet-yet-spastic mood seems just right for Jen to have fallen for Justin … or Paul Rudd … or Alan Alda … or that horse that lives inside the house. Anything can happen on a commune! Either way, love is definitely in the air as well as onscreen, and we’re pretty sure we can pinpoint the exact movie moments that sent Aniston head over heels. Maybe even literally, if her character ends up jumping out of that tree in an ayahuasca-induced trance.

I'm just going to go ahead and get this over with: TV Line has basically the entire episode of Glee next week spoiled, from the musical to Sebastian, to yes, Klaine's special moment. Role Models was a Judd Apatow-lite comedy, a movie that had it’s moments for sure but it didn’t penetrate the sweet spot of emotion that Apatow so frequently finds. The film was directed by David Wain, co-written by Ken Marino and starred Paul Rudd, and now the trio are back for Wanderlust, another R-rated comedy that judging by the first look trailer, again feels like it misses it’s mark. This despite Judd Apatow producing this time round.

Universal Pictures have released the first official trailer for Wanderlust, offering hysterics, nudity and an all round entertainment.
Directed by David Wain (Role Models), Wanderlust stars Jennifer Aniston, Paul Rudd, Malin Åkerman, Justin Theroux, Lauren Ambrose, Alan Alda, Kathryn Hahn and Ken Marino.
George (Rudd) and Linda (Aniston) are an overextended, stressed out Manhattan couple. After George is downsized out of his job, they find themselves with only one option: to move in with George’s awful brother in Atlanta.
On the way there, George and Linda stumble upon Elysium, an idyllic community populated by colourful characters who embrace a different way of looking at things. Money? It can’t buy happiness. Careers? Who needs them? Clothes? Only if you want them.
Is Elysium the fresh start George and Linda need? Or will the change of perspective cause more problems than it solves?
Wanderlust will hit U.K. cinemas on...

Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd's new comedy has received a trailer. Wanderlust reunites director David Wain (Role Models) with Rudd for their fourth collaboration. The movie stars Aniston and Rudd as professional New Yorker couple George and Linda. After George loses his job, the couple find themselves inadvertently joining the freespirited community of Elysium. Trailer and images for Wanderlust, starring Paul Rudd, Jennifer Aniston and Malin Akerman This one looks like a real stinker, maybe the ending of the trailer is fitting, you'll see what I mean. The Universal Pictures release opens February 24, 2012, and also includes Justin Theroux, Kathryn Hahn, Lauren Ambrose, Ken Marino, Joe Lo Truglio, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Alan Alda. Ken Marino & David Wain wrote the script for the comedy helmed by Wain which is rated R for sexual content, graphic nudity, language and drug use. Both Rudd and Aniston seem monotone for the most part, struggling to star in anything that doesn't flop lately. Rudd's starred in three successive lackluster and annoying films - Dinner for Schmucks, How Do You Know and Our Idiot Brother, and this is set to mark a fourth. Still, maybe The Perks of Being a Wallflower with Rudd...

Dropping out of the rat race isn't the newest concept in the world (think Tom and Barbara Good in The Good Life), but it's being given another spin in David Wain's new comedy, Wanderlust. You can take a look at the first trailer below.
Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston star as George and Linda, a couple of high-flying New Yorkers who suddenly find themselves having to downshift when he's fired. They try moving to Atlanta, where George's obnoxious brother (Ken Marino) has offered him a job. But when that doesn't work out, they go driving around the country, eventually ending up in error at the Elysium commune. And that's when the trouble really starts.
It's a regular trailer, so we're honestly more interested to see what Wain and co can shove into any likely Red Band release, but there are a few chuckles here. And he has definitely recruited a good comedy cast,...

Giddy with excitement about seeing Jennifer Aniston and her hunky man Justin Theroux together onscreen? Well, check out out some tender moments of the two in Wanderlust, the comedy where the pair are said to have met. It's just Jen, Justin...and a goat. Wait, what? Yeah, it's not what you might expect. As much as we'd hoped that they would be playing two singles who get caught up in a steamy love affair, they don't. The raciest act they participate in as a duo, from what we see in the trailer, is milking a goat. Who would've thought?! Instead, Aniston's character is married to Paul Rudd (yay! We love him) and the two of them are forced to move to the middle of...

For those scratching their heads, Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston were in The Object of My Affection in 1998 and a lot of episodes of Friends. Take that to your next Trivial Pursuit night.
Now, I enjoy both Rudd and Aniston; the chemistry they have can’t be denied. Wanderlust as you will see from the trailer below looks like a winner for the two, who are no strangers to comedy. Paul Rudd obviously has had his share of roles in Judd Apatow projects among other things (Clueless was awesome wasn’t it?) and Aniston has been coming into her own with work like Horrible Bosses and the underrated movie Management.

Yahoo! Movies has debuted the trailer for David Wain’s (2008′s “Role Models”) upcoming film “Wanderlust”. Hitting theaters on February 24, 2012, the film stars Jennifer Aniston, Paul Rudd, Malin Akerman, Justin Theroux, Ray Liotta, Alan Alda and Reba McEntire. Wain also co-wrote the film along with “Head of State” writer Ken Marino. The film is (of course) produced by Judd Apatow. Here’s the film’s synopsis: George and Linda are an overextended, stressed out Manhattan couple. After George is downsized out of his job, they find themselves with only one option: to move in with George’s awful brother in Atlanta. On the way there, George and Linda stumble upon Elysium, an idyllic community populated by colorful characters who embrace a different way of looking at things. Money? It can’t buy happiness. Watching the trailer for Wanderlust – the new movie directed by Wet Hot American Summer director David Wain – makes me want to watch every episode of The State all over again. In short, I wanna dip my balls in it. Starring Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston as rat-racers in New York who have to leave the race and find themselves learning the communal life, the trailer looks knock-down, drag-out hilarious. Some great gags from some truly disturbed/gifted comic minds are on display here. Check it out for yourself, and see how many State alumni you can spot: There’s Wain behind the camera of course, and there’s Joe Lo Truglio, Kerri Kenney, Ken Marino (trying to dip his balls into Aniston’s character), and with any luck, Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon will make their way onto the screen as well. At any rate, it...

The trailer for Wanderlust is out! Jennifer Aniston stars in the comedy alongside Paul Rudd, but it was her other costar, Justin Theroux, who caught her attention during production. Jennifer and Justin met while working on the film late last year, and their relationship has since turned into a serious romance. The couple share a few funny scenes in the clip, including one where Justin teaches Jennifer to milk a goat after she and Paul move to a commune. So we want to know - are you excited to see the movie that sparked Jennifer and Justin's love? Watch the Wanderlust Trailer - Are You Excited to See the Movie That Brought Jennifer and Justin Together? Yes - I want to see their chemistry on screen! No - I'm not interested in this movie, even if Justin is in it.

Get ready for yet another fish out of water movie and this time its with Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston. The comedy directed by David Wain is called Wanderlust and Universal has released the first movie trailer online. Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston play as a couple that is forced out of their rich and extravagant lives in New York after one of them becomes unemployed. Bored with a simple data entry job, the couple tries to find refuge in a hippie commune. Some of the jokes feel forced and Paul Rudd seems like he himself is a fish out of water. But this is the first trailer, I am sure that Universal use this as a test and then release a better quality trailer in the near future.
You can watch the trailer below or in HD on Yahoo! Movies.

Sometimes you just have to break out of your routine and try something new -- and that's true even if you're a big time Hollywood star. Take Paul Rudd for example. Sure, he's been in a bunch of wildly successful Judd Apatow films, but even Rudd must feel a little creative wanderlust from time to time, right?
Well, thank goodness he does, because the first trailer for Rudd's newest project has arrived -- and "Wanderlust" appears to be one case of art imitating life imitating awesome.
Not that Rudd is any stranger to director David Wain either; after all, the two previously teamed for the cult hits "Role Models" and "Wet Hot American Summer."
This time around, though, they seem to have outdone themselves with the story of a guy (that's Rudd) who, along with his reluctant wife (Jennifer Aniston) sort of accidentally end up living in a weird hippie commune.

David Wain last directed the excellent comedy Role Models and he has teamed once again with Paul Rudd and this time instead of Seann William Scott he's brought along Jennifer Aniston for Wanderlust which Universal has set for a February 24, 2012 release. The film was actually supposed to be in theaters already as Universal originally set an October 7, 2011 release, but things happen and I guess competing against Dirty Girl, The Ides of March and Real Steel just wasn't as appealing as butting heads with Summit's Gone and Tyler Perry's Good Deeds. Wanderlust centers on a New York City couple that has to move to Atlanta after he gets fired. However, time in Atlanta isn't so hot so the two head out and ultiamtely stumble upon Elysium, an idyllic community populated by colorful characters who embrace a different way of looking at things. Money? It can't buy happiness. Careers? Who needs them?...

"Flick the tip, flick the tip!" Universal has also debuted the official trailer today for Wanderlust, a new comedy directed by David Wain (Role Models) starring Jennifer Aniston & Paul Rudd as a couple who become hippies at a counter-culture community called Elysium. This Apatow Productions film also features Malin Akerman, Justin Theroux, Ray Liotta and Alan Alda. I've heard that Aniston is nude in this quite a bit (hence the R-rating tag), but they don't even hint at that in this trailer at all. Besides that, this doesn't look funny or entertaining in the least, but that's just me. None of the jokes even made me laugh at all. Have fun! Watch the first official trailer for David Wain's Wanderlust, via Yahoo: You can also download the Wanderlust trailer in High Definition on Yahoo An urbanite couple branches out to live a more "counter-culture" lifestyle at a community called Elysium.

Sometimes I'll write up a trailer and say that it seems funny, despite the fact that it never actually made me laugh. That's just what happens when you're working home alone-- it's hard for something to be so funny that it actually makes you laugh out loud. But Wanderlust, the trailer for David Wain's new comedy that debuted today at Yahoo! Movies, actually got a solid guffaw out of me more than once. It's no surprise that a new movie from the director of Wet Hot American Summer and Role Models would be funny, but it feels great to see it anyway. Check out the trailer below to see what I mean. There's really something for everybody here. Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd together again for the first time since The Object of My Affection! Some of the cast of Wet Hot American Summer together again, including Rudd, Ken Marino...
