Featured review
This movie is the first step to Project Runway.
Now that we have been properly introduced to the world of fashion and fashion designers through Project Runway, your further education must include movies like this one. What makes a genius in the fashion world? How does one create fashion? Who defines a trend? This film illustrates that art, at its best is a collaborative effort. Someone with a strong personality must stand as the leader to edit, modify and present. If not, we would be wear paper bags at $5,000 a pop.
What I enjoyed most about the movie was the genesis of Yves St. Laurent personality and how that translated into a design aesthetic. He speaks about his love for books and music, then when you see him design, drape cloth over the female form, you understand his love for beauty.
Although it may appear slow going, please take the time to real enjoy it. All genius requires patience, therefore expect watching genius to require your attention.
