After being cut by the Bruins, Eddie finally gets a job as a penguin, not of the Pittsburgh variety, but rather a dressed-up penguin in The World of Ice ice show. The first stop on the show's tour is Seattle. Carla is reluctant to visit Eddie on the extended Seattle stop as everyone finally finds out she is afraid to fly, or to be more precise she is afraid to crash. After the gang discuss ways to help Carla, Frasier decides that he could hold a week long pteromerhanophobia workshop ending with an actual flight on a plane. Carla agrees to participate. Frasier's workshop ends up doing the trick but not quite in the way he had anticipated. Meanwhile, Murray Treadwell, a local restaurant critic, is doing a series of reviews of bars. When Cheers was managed by Sam, Treadwell gave the bar a rotten review, so Rebecca will do anything to rectify that. Treadwell implies to Rebecca that he will give the bar a good review if she goes out with him. Will Rebecca's personal relationship, or ... Written by Huggo

Did You Know?

The title references the Airport series of airplane disaster movies from the 1970s. There were four in the series, though the sequels weren't numbered, they were identified by the year in which they were set: Airport (1970), Airport 1975 (1974), Airport '77 (1977) and The Concorde... Airport '79 (1979). The title would jokingly set this episode as the fifth in the series. See more »

The aircraft shown in the show is a Boeing 727, but the interior configuration is incorrect. If the passengers are in coach, then the 2 seats on the left side of the aisle and three on the right are wrong because on the 727 there were three seats on each side. If they are in first class, there should only be two seats on each side of the aisle. See more »

Carla LeBec: [explaining why she's afraid to fly] The first time in an airplane, it was on my honeymoon with Nick. We were going to New York, a short flight, no problem, right?! Well suddenly, the plane hits turbulence, right?! Me and Nick were thrown all around that bathroom. I haven't flown since.

Another Throwaway

Eddie has a job with an ice show. He plays a skating penguin (not the Pittsburgh kind). He ends up in Seattle and wants Carla to visit him but it turns out she is afraid of flying. Frasier offers a class in this phobia and Carla signs up. The final project for the class is to actually take a flight. This is really not so funny.
