Storyline

Mariette and Charley aren't talking after Mariette saw Miss Winters kiss Charley. Nonetheless, they work on the brewery until exhaustion. Pop and Ma get them to reconcile, and Pop helps them buy the brewery. Pop is still campaigning for the rural district council, and is faced with a new problem - will electors vote for him even though he has allowed gypsies to live on his land? But the gypsies turn out to be more useful than expected. Edith Pilchester is mad with the brigadier when she thinks that Captain Battersby and his wife have managed to bribe him. Written by Pruneau

misty-eyed Catherine

Catherine Zeta Jones wasn't exactly my favorite during the second season, but there's been a marked improvement in the third. Watch her here in the scene where Pop gives her a serious talking-to regarding her marriage, where she is all sad-eyed, and then there is some CZJ magic that lives up to all the fanfare.

Tons of rustic charm, and not much else, but with such charm, even The Raven can sit through all this schmaltz, because really, there is something genuine to it, something really beautiful.
