A boy is brought into Rampart choking to death for no apparent reason; Dr. Morton's brutal honesty about the situation sends the boy's mother into hysterics, which leads Dixie and Johnny into calming her, a boy is critically injured diving off a roof, Johnny and Roy rescue a family of three (mother, child, and grandfather who lied to John about being blind) from a burning house, and Dixie and Dr. Early treat a man who "might" be having a heart attack because his father died from one at the same age. - Gage's newest kick is to deplore anything less than total honesty, first brought on by a newly married couple regarding the scent of the husband's cigars. DeSoto and Kelly disagree, but in their own unique ways. Kelly tortures Gage by saying the nurse Gage is dating is too nice to tell Gage how she truly feels about him. A woman regrets her failure to "tattle" on a child to his mother, strengthening Gage's belief in total honesty. A 20-year old taunts her boyfriend's claim that he can jump off 4th story apartment roof into the pool; at the accident scene, DeSoto asks Gage if he still prefers total honesty. Morton is direct with a patient's mother to the point of her hysteria; Morton bluntly tells Mrs. Epps her boy is choking and he does not know why. Later, Brackett reveals Mrs. Epps was not completely truthful about her son's history. A mother, toddler and blind grandfather involved in a 3-alarm blaze bring out the entire crew of 51 and Gage learns that a lie can be a noble gesture.—LA-Lawyer
