The Sutton family comes to Coopers Crossing and Miriam Sutton is just about to have a baby. They are very poor and the whole town wants to help out by giving them old clothes and toys, free meals, a roof over their head and some money. Miriams husband Barry takes any job he can get, but then he suddenly disappears. Apparently this wasn't the first time he had left his wife and kids stranded. Miriam and the kids leave the town in their van but it's broken and has no brakes. DJ tells everyone to keep an eye out for a van driven by a woman, when someone says that he has seen the van but it's driven by a man - Barry. It was all a scam, and when the Suttons are forced back to Coopers Crossing they meet many angry and disappointed people, who still are willing to give them a chance though. Violet also decides that she will come with her granddaughter to England to help out with babysitting, but she's worried about her shop.
