99 asks Siegfried about the "sash" he is wearing, saying she was unaware he was from royalty. This prompts him to note that it is covering a hole in his shirt. A sash, properly called a riband, is not a mark of royalty, but rather receipt of certain important awards and decorations by an individual of any class. 99 may have become confused as the wearing of formal decorations is uncommon, and thus only routinely observed among royalty. Siegfried: Tell your Chief I am ready to cooperate with Control. Also I will sell them some of Kaos' top secrets.
Maxwell Smart: All right, Siegfried, I'll tell 'em. But I don't think the Chief will trust you.
Siegfried: Give me one good reason why he shouldn't trust me.
Maxwell Smart: Because you're a rotten, vicious, cruel, cunning, maniacal murderer.
Siegfried: All right, that's one. Now give me another.

This is KAOS, we do not ____ Here!
29 October 2007 | by zsenorsockSee all my reviews

A terrific and hilarious script by Mike Marmer introduces Siegfried's goofy henchman Shtarker (King Moody) and the two play together like a KAOS comedy team. Moody had appeared twice before on the series, but this is the first time he got to play some comedy and with the help of Bernie Koppell and director Gary Nelson, does the most with it. This is the first time Siegfried gets to use the running joke "This is KAOS, we do not ___ here!" The story has Siegfried (Kopell) saving Smart's life and offering to defect from KAOS after Max cavalierly lets Agent 74 (Emmy award winning Laugh-In writer Marc London) die at the beginning of the episode. Alex Rocco also has a brief appearance as a KAOS killer. Adams works great with Kopell as usual and has a good scene as the MC of the annual Chiefs award ceremony ("I won't say there are a lot of chiefs here tonight, but the only thing missing is a wigwam."). The beautiful woman playing a CONTROL scientist involved with hormone research is Nancy Walters who co-starred in "Blue Hawaii" (and only made one more TV appearance before leaving show biz to become a minister). The whole defector thing turns out to be a plot by Siegfried to kidnap the Chiefs and hold them for ransom, but of course Max figures it out along the way. Funy episode all the way through thanks to some great characters.
