Opera diva Laetitia Barton is coming to Hope Island for a visit. The reason for her visit? To see her son, Nub. Nub has always wanted to please his mother, but nothing he did was ever good enough. Laetitia knows nothing about Nub's life on Hope Island, including that he is not known by his birth name, Nathaniel Umberto Barton. On this visit, he needs to show her that he is a success. Brian and Boris mentor him in how to look successful and Brian concocts a story of Hub and he being business partners. Upon Laetitia's arrival, Brian decides to take the story one step further by saying that Nub is the mayor and lives in the big house by the water, that really being Brian's house. When Laetitia, seeking familial support since her husband left her, decides to stay on Hope Island for good, Brian takes it upon himself to do whatever he can to make Laetitia leave so that he can get back his house and his status as mayor. Meanwhile, Alex and Dylan contemplate an offer for Dylan to attend the Joshua School, a boarding school in Oregon for gifted children as Dylan has been deemed above average in intelligence in the area of science. Dylan decides to do what he thinks his mom wants him to do, and Alex decides to do what she thinks her son wants to do, but neither asks the other if those are indeed the cases. And Daniel is quarantined with a case of adult measles. Father Mac and Callie use his quarantine as an opportunity to propose that he and Father Mac write a point/counterpoint article for the paper. However, Father Mac and Daniel find they have more in common than they do in disagreement.
