Miserly Mother Figures
16 November 2017 | by JordanThomasHallSee all my reviews

Mike (Merry Anders) mistakenly receives Mr. Mike McCall's guest card to Bayside Yacht Club. They call to find he is gone away to Europe and decide to use his invitation to gain entry into the prestigious club. Their plans are dashed when Mr. McCall returns early from Europe. Before being ousted Mike meets Tommy Seaton (Charles Cooper) who says his mother (Kathryn Card, Lucy's mother in "I Love Lucy") is in town and would like to meet some friends and arranges a date with Mike and her mother. Needing a society mother, she calls a talent agency to find a rich-looking woman to play the part. Loco brings home a woman named Mrs. Hartley (Ruth Perrott) willing to play the part, but she swipes expensive things from their apartment. With Tommy and his mother coming the agency sends Gertrude Van Dyne (Eleanor Audley, who ironically was a character actress who played wealthy women). She has a few bad traits of her own, however.
