    Judge Paul Hansen : Mr. Hicks!

    Dr. Philip Avery : Some residual soreness possible, sleeplessness, nervousness, a lost of intention. Any and all of this things are possible long-term effects.

    Sam Hamman : Thank you. I have nothing further.

    Ed Hicks : Nothing further? Come on. Guys hit with this 3,000 lbs. Evening further.

    Judge Paul Hansen : Mr. Hicks. Mr. Hicks, sit down!

    Ed Hicks : You're taking money on the false pretenses. That's call stealing!

    Judge Paul Hansen : Mr. Hamman, you kindly advised your client as to the manner in which to conduct himself.

    Ed Hicks : Hang on, Your Honor. I'm not gonna take lessons in any etiquette from some guy who selling me down the river.

    Sam Hamman : You think I selling you down the river, Ed?

    Ed Hicks : Yes. I think you selling me down the river. I think you're more interested in closing up to a big famous baseball star than you are providing me with adequate representation!

    Sam Hamman : Your Honor, at this time, I would ask to be relieved as Mr. Hicks' counsel.

    Jonathan Rollins : Whoa, whoa. Your Honor, we have been through delay. After delay, after delay.

    Sam Hamman : I can assure you, that's not my intention.

    Jonathan Rollins : It may not be intention, but that is the effect. Your Honor, we are now into the baseball season. My client's practices been disruptive as performances on the field has been effective. Mr. Hicks has been through four different attorneys. Each time, he gets a new one. He buys himself for another delay.

    [Judge Hansen agrees with Mr. Rollins] 

    Judge Paul Hansen : Mr. Rollins is absolutely right. Mr. Hamman, I'm not going to allow you to withdraw.

  • Sam Hamman : Your Honor, I cannot effectively represent this man.

    Ed Hicks : Hey, Judge? How 'bout if I represent myself?

    Judge Paul Hansen : Mr. Hicks, do you have legal background of any kind?

    Ed Hicks : No, I do not.

    Judge Paul Hansen : And you feel competent to represent yourself?

    Ed Hicks : I'm at least as competent as this idiot.

    Judge Paul Hansen : All right, Mr. Hicks, we'll adjourn for now in order to give you an opportunity to prepare.

    Sam Hamman : Thank you, Your Honor.

    Judge Paul Hansen : We'll resume Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m., and, please, be prepared to proceed.

    Ed Hicks : Don't worry, Judge, I'll be ready.

    Ed Hicks : [Sam Hamman takes his belongings and withdrawn from the case. Mr. Hicks turning to Mr. Rollins] 

    Ed Hicks : Hey, Mr. Rollins, now we got us a game.

    [Mr. Hicks laughing] 

    Ed Hicks : Yeah.
