Guinea Pigs

Laverne &amp; Shirley both take part in human studies. Laverne has to go through sleep deprivation &amp; Shirley can&#39;t eat, in order to raise enough money pay for an expensive cocktail party. The sequence where they pay $20 and arrive at the party is worth the price of admission. (It might just be the best 5 1/2 minutes of your day). Laverne plays the part of someone beyond exhausted perfectly and does quite a summersault from a sitting position, as she can&#39;t keep her eyes open. Shirley shines here carrying Laverne to the buffet table doing the &quot;bunny hop&quot;. There&#39;s absolute comedy gold when Shirley subtlety, (extreme sarcasm), pounces on a cracker that&#39;s dropped to the floor. Another example of Penny &amp; Cindy making a fabulous team. Highly recommended.

The physical comedy in this episode is sublime. Penny is great and Shirley just shines here. It is a strong show from beginning to end. The scenes where they are used as &quot;human experiments&quot; are terrific but as one reviewer stated, they moment they walk into the cocktail party the comedic chaos is out of this world. Shirley&#39;s pounce on the cracker is comedy gold. I love it when &quot;Charles Warner&quot; (a party guest) introduces himself to Laverne &amp; Shirley. Shirley replies &quot;I&#39;m Shirley Feeney and this is Laverne DeFazio&quot;. Shirley stomps on Laverne&#39;s foot to wake her up due to her sleep deprivation. Laverne shakes Charles&#39;s hand and replies &quot;Ooooooh.....is there a place we could lie down&quot;. More comedy gold. Charles &quot;pops up&quot; again in the tag. If you are a fan of the show, I&#39;m positive you&#39;ll enjoy this episode.

Laverne really needs some sleep and Shirley is starving from participating in &quot;science experiments&quot; to earn the money to go to a fancy party. It is a funny episode throughout. From Lenny &amp; Squiggy letting the girls in on their little secret on how to earn extra money. To the girls participating in the sleep deprivation and not eating. To the climax of the girls arriving at the party and the chaos that ensues during the party. I agree with other reviews that the scene at the party is outstanding. There is some great physical comedy in that scene. Both Cindy &amp; Penny shine. We get a little surprise in the tag as we see &quot;Charles Warner&quot; again. He was introduced to Laverne by Shirley. When Laverne shook his hand she asked if there was a place they could lay down. Sleep was the only thing on Laverne&#39;s mind. Shirley&#39;s pounce on the cracker that fell to the floor was hilarious. One of my favourite episodes from the series!

While Shirley is giving Edna a hand to get ready for her date, Edna hands Shirley two passes for a fancy party in return. The tickets are $20 each, which was a lot of money back then. Laverne has to break it to Shirley they simply can&#39;t afford it. Shirley really wants to go to this party and is determined to do so. They convince Lenny &amp; Squiggy to take them to the unknown place where they make a bit of extra money. They all wind up at &quot;The Institute of Behavioural Sciences&quot;. Lenny &amp; Squiggy leave the girls there. Essentially they are Guinea Pigs for experiments in the name of science. Laverne winds up in a sleep deprivation experiment, while Shirley is sent to an experiment where food is limited but also extremely strange. Anyone for &quot;mud dumplings&quot;? Yikes! The girls did make $50. Enough to go to the upscale cocktail party. No more spoilers. You&#39;ll have to watch the show. This is easily in my personal top 3 episodes for Season Two. Some very funny stuff in this show.
