The premise of this story - a young Mexican landowner returns from school far away to find his family and the townspeople threatened by an evil government official collecting confiscatory taxes, and then sets out to right the wrongs - is extremely close to that of Zorro, which would appear on television four years later.
Unusual in that Tonto gets "top billing" in the closing dialogue, when Rafael tells his grandfather that the men who helped them are "Tonto and the Lone Ranger".
