Hawkeye comes back from a week of debauchery in Tokyo to find that Trapper has gotten his orders and has already left. Knowing that he has only had a two hour head start, Radar (with fear and major reluctance) and Hawkeye grab a jeep and head for Kimpo where he will depart. Frank and Margaret are now running the camp as they have in the past, like a true combat-ready facility. Of course, they are getting absolutely no respect. While in Kimpo, Radar is supposed to pick up B. J. Hunnicutt, Trapper's replacement. Unfortunately, they miss Trapper. Burns and Houlihan are drooling that a young new surgeon is coming and they can put their stamp on him. When Pierce and O'Reilly get there, someone steals their jeep. They meet Hunnicutt and begin to try to figure out what to do next. There is a marvelous scene in an officer's club. Things are set up nicely for the next episode.
Part 2
The guys grab a General's jeep and head back to the camp. Along the way, they run across a minefield where young women are sent to check for mines so it will be OK for the livestock to graze. When there is an explosion, Radar runs in, grabs the girl, and they take her to a hospital. After a flat tire, they encounter mortar fire and need to give service to some GI's who are moving down a road. It is a horrible scene. Hunnicutt is getting his baptism of fire. Meanwhile, Frank is setting things up for his arrival. Sadly, for Frank, they decide to stop at Rosie's Bar, and they get hammered and witness even more craziness. There is one last scene with the arrival of the new camp commander, Colonel Sherman T. Potter.
