Storyline

Joe Mannix is hired by a secretive businessman named Alton K. Moore, who wants Mannix to look for his son Cal, a college basketball player who has been missing for several days. Although the case takes Mannix back to his alma mater, he has his doubts about Moore, who insists on meeting in remote places instead of at his office. His concerns about the elder Moore -- and the serious trouble that Cal may be in -- begin to seem justified when several thugs begin shadowing Mannix during his search. Written by aldanoli

Trivia

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Credited as Lewis Alcindor) & Gail Goodrich make a cameo as college teammates to a player on the run. Kareem & Goodrich played at UCLA in the 1960's & both were in the NBA during their appearance on Mannix. Kareem's first acting job. He'd film "Game of Death" with Bruce Lee a year later, but due to Lee's death, "Game of Death" wasn't released until 1978. See more »

Goofs

During the team basketball practice, Gail Goodrich passes the ball to Mannix & they play one on one (LOL). When Mannix shoots, the camera is located behind the goal & there is no backboard. You can clearly see the camera mount equipment as the ball goes into the basket. See more »

Routine for our hero
5 August 2017 | by searchanddestroy-1See all my reviews

Nothing special in this ordinary private eye adventure; Mannix to purchase a wayward young man whose the father asks for him. Nothing special, I repeat, except the short presence of the great basketball player who Bruce Lee fought against in his last movie. Here, the Black giant has nearly a cameo, in front of the gumshoe, who really looks like a midget besides Kareem Abdul Jabbar. That's the only curiosity which we can emphasize on about this forgettable episode. It was not commented by the usual Plankonrules or the Buffalo guy, so I did it. Although my comment was certainly not as sharp and accurate as theirs. Sorry. Good action scenes.
