The song "No Time," a retro-'50s rocker from the group's "Headquarters" album, is credited to recording engineer Hank Cicalo. The lyrics were actually penned by Micky Dolenz and Michael Nesmith; Peter Tork has described it as "it started out as a jam, then Micky and Mike got together and wrote these weird-ass lyrics." Credit was given to Cicalo as a thank-you for his work in engineering the album. The royalties Cicalo earned from album sales enabled him to purchase a house.
Musical numbers featured in this episode: 1. "Pleasant Valley Sunday" 2. "No Time".
The exchange between Michael Nesmith and Davy Jones (Mike, "And so, until this crisis is over, I will hunker down like a jackass in a hailstorm, dot, dot, dot." Davy, "Oh Mike, that's terrible. No politician would ever say a thing like that.") is a reference to the Lyndon B. Johnson quote, "Sometimes it's like being a jackass in a hailstorm. You just have to hunker down and take it." LBJ was President throughout the show's production.
Following the death of Michael Nesmith on December 10, 2021, MeTV aired four episodes of The Monkees as a tribute. In addition to this one, the other episodes shown were "I've Got A Little Song Here", "Monkees In Texas", and "Fairy Tale".
