Trivia

When the Robot is going haywire, he spouts gibberish including the phrase "Klaatu barada nikto". This is the robot password from The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951). He also at one point claims to be Robby the Robot who first appeared in Forbidden Planet (1956). See more »

Goofs

The Robot has backward feet, yet in some long shots Micky Dolenz' normal feet can be seen. An example is when he leads Davy Jones and Peter Tork across the sand to the spaceship. See more »

Pat Paulsen and Nita Talbot

Broadcast no. 49 (Jan 15 1968), "Monkees Watch Their Feet" was actually 40th in production, filmed May 24-26 1967, while Michael Nesmith was recovering from his May 23 tonsillectomy. Nes does appear to introduce the marvelously deadpan Pat Paulsen, a sensation in '68 running for President on the STAG (Straight Talking American Government) ticket, his slogan, "if elected, I will win!" (he died in 1997). Paulsen's Secretary for the Department of UFO Information shows us a film depicting the alien abduction of Micky Dolenz, replaced by a lookalike robot that rusts easily and has feet pointing backwards. Micky has a field day, and the invaders are played by Stuart Margolin (THE ROCKFORD FILES) and sexy Nita Talbot, but overall the stop-start chaotic presentation is just a mess. The lone track featured is "Star Collector," making its third go-round. Next in production- "A Nice Place to Visit," which became the debut telecast of the second season.
