Tony Sparkle is a smarmy, egotistical third rate actor who just about manages to get up the noses of every one of his fellow cast members who are all featuring in the theatrical production of a murder mystery play called 'Catflap'. Then while performing on stage as the murder victim in the play, Tony is actually shot and killed on stage. Fortunately for the cast members and maybe less fortunate for whoever killed Tony, Inspector Turner chose that very day to bring a team from the local constabulary to watch the play as part of a training exercise.
