Storyline
Did you know
- GoofsWhen Nick demonstrates how to get past the alarm he does a forward roll over the sofa, which Ben is sitting on, drinking. He knocks the can out of Ben's hand and it clearly falls to his side. Nick reappears holding what should be the can of Ben's drink. It is obviously a totally different can.
- Quotes
Susan: [after waking Ben up] Ben, this is serious. I heard a noise, but the alarm didn't go off.
Ben: There's probably a very good reason for that.
Susan: Maybe the thief knew how to bypass the system.
Ben: Maybe it's because I turned it off.
Susan: You turned off the alarm and jeopardized your family?
Ben: That is correct, yes.
Susan: Go and turn it back on.
Ben: No. If that alarm goes off again, I'll be arrested.
Susan: Oh Ben, I can't sleep knowing the alarm's off... neither can you.
Ben: I'll manage.
Susan: [pointedly] Neither can you.

Farewell to Alarms
Steve and Jim Armogida wrote some of the best episodes of this show ever, and this is one such example.
Ben's assistant Bridgette makes her biggest contribution to the show here, with Daisy Donovan moving on in the 2nd series.
Although Bridgette was a fun character, there was more comedic possibilities to be found in Ben having a revolving door of assistants instead.
Lots of lovely moments here, with the rise of Nick as the main stand-out of the kids at the expense of Janey becoming clearer.
Interesting when revisiting the episode though to wonder whether Ben's 'Mission Impossible' moment might have been inserted to fill time.
Lovely overall though, and one of my favourite 1st series episodes.
