In the original broadcast, when Del is telling Grandad the story about the Irishman, he refers to him as 'the only Provo weightwatcher in London'. In subsequent broadcasts, the line has been dubbed and 'Provo' is replaced with 'genuine', though Del is still seen saying the original line and the dubbed audio does not match the dialogue. The reason the line has been changed is because 'Provo' refers to a member of the Provisional Irish Republican Army.
When Del Boy says "Buzby sent it down the line" after taking the money out of the telephone receiver, he is referring to the yellow cartoon bird who featured in the British Telecom commercials from 1976-80. Buzby was voiced by the actor Bernard Cribbins who said the line "Make someone happy with a phone call".
In "Watching the Girls Go By (1985)", Boycie had a winning hand of three tens. Yet in this episode, Del Boy had a hand of three tens and lost.
John Challis (Boyce) 'switches' his cards by simply turning them upside down then uses his hand and the top card, the ten of spades, (the only one that doesn't change) to block the camera from seeing the original hand printed below on the same cards. Tellingly, we do not see him fully reveal the cards at the end, just a cut to a single shot of the cards already lying fanned out on the table.
