Trivia

A Substantial Gift (The Broken Promise)

Police Squad!

Edit
Numerous jokes in this episode were later reused in the three Naked Gun films: The exchange: "Cigarette? "Yes, I know." was reused in Naked Gun 33 1/3. The "Little Italy" joke was reused in The Naked Gun. The gag where Frank screams when a wig is thrown on his face was reused in Naked Gun 2/12 (except there, it was a hot towel). And the short-range shootout gag was also reused in Naked Gun 2 1/2.
Only episode where Frank would notice the child Ted is giving 'lessons' to in the Crime Lab (and smile approvingly) - in all subsequent episodes, he would act totally oblivious to the fact Ted had been giving highly questionable lessons to a child and would hardly bat an eyelid to the fact they were there.
In Slavic languages the name Zubatsky loosely translates as "Toothman" which is another in-joke.
Many characters are named after friends and neighbors of the writing/directing team. For instance, dentist Robert Zubastsky is named after Bob Zubatsky who used to live next to the Zucker brothers in Milwaukee.
A young David Schwimmer appears briefly as an extra in the waiting room.
