Introducing The Schmenges
The first scene is Andrea Martin playing the original Annie 15 years later. Rick Moranis plays Daddy Warbucks with a wheelchair and IV.
Dave Thomas does a spot on impression of Phil Donahue with pornography as the topic. Catherine O'Hara is a guest explaining she is a burlesque performer not a stripper. A running sketch in the show is Pet Peeves Of The Stars, Elizabeth Taylor says she hates people shaking hands like a vise.
Days Of The Week episode 2 is next. We meet two new characters Zack Harrington (Thomas) a militia leader who wants to overthrow the government. He pretends to be from the Pentagon and tries to get some land away from a rich woman May Matlock (Martin). She has the funniest scene as she greets Zack while trying to hang herself. Meanwhile Dr Sabian tells Clay he is dying and Violet awaits the arrival of her long lost son.
We then get the first appearance of The Happy Wanders Yosh (John Candy) and Stan Schmenge (Eugene Levy). They are the leaders of a polka band from the fictional country Leautonia. They have a funny travel commercial and plug their Greatest Hits album. They also rave about Mrs Yahchki's cabbage rolls and coffee. Moranis plays a former member of the band who tries to play Last Train To Clarksville but keeps getting interrupted.
There is a funny After School Special with Moranis as a girl getting a second nose job and the effect on her friends. Nightline Melonville has Floyd (who is drunk again) and Earl accusing Mayor Shanks of stealing money from a children's milk fund. The normally mellow Shanks gets angry and comes down to the station to beat them up. Bob Hope has a Pet Peeve about hatchet job biographies of stars. He is nervous about someone writing about him so he says he will never die.
Luciano Pavoratti has a Pet Peeve about barbers not clipping nose hairs. There is a good Fishin Musician when Gil welcomes rockabilly legend Carl Perkins. They drive all night for a fishing trip but Gil stops at a bar and grill, gets drunk and gets into a brawl. Perkins performs his classic song Matchbox.
Great White North is next and Bob wants to do a topic on mustard and Doug wants to talk about beating the Russians in the space race. Morgan Fairchild has a Pet Peeve about not being taken seriously. Johnny then has a commercial for his cereal Fish Flakes and Frosted Fish Flakes.
The final sketch is Bill Needle with a new show Stand Up And Be Counted. It is a call in show put on at 3AM. He says there are only a bunch of goofs and losers awake at that time. He refuses calls from Carl Sagan and Tip O'Neil.
