Mike Myers returns as a cast member as of this episode after a hiatus during which he was filming So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993) since the prior season's finale.
Gary Oldman was announced as the host in the previous show, but had to pull out and be replaced by Tom Arnold. In the book "Live From New York - an uncensored history of Saturday Night Live", Marci Klein states that Oldman would have been her dream host, but he something personal happened on the Thursday before the week he was supposed to come in. She incorrectly recounts that it was Tom Hanks who filled in at the last moment.
