Great series but Sam Ryan is irritating
andycase-7080012 November 2021
I love Silent Witness. I've watched all of them over the years, and gone back to rewatch them from the start on iplayer.

But I mist say that I'm happy when Sam Ryan leaves in series 8.

By this particular episode, series 7 Beyond Guilt, Sam is really obnoxious. She's argumentative and a know it all.

Over the previous series she gets things wrong and doesn't admit it. And her immediate arguments with any police officers in charge of the case is a tiresome character trait.

Thankfully when she leaves in series 8 we then get Nicky along with Tom and Leo. Those episodes are the best.

A well respected Pathologist's findings are called into question.
Sleepin_Dragon29 November 2022
Sam is tasked with looking at the findings of Professor Peter Sachs, who's evidence helped convict a killer, but is called into question.

Very, very good start to the story, it's well plotted, gritty, and boasts some very interesting characters, best of all though, there's an element of conflict among the team, and conflict between The Police and pathologists. It's well paced, it doesn't have a single boring moment.

I really did like the frustrations Harry felt, and seemed to aim at Sam. There was such an interesting dynamic amongst this team.

If I'm honest, I didn't really like DI Lloyd, I wasn't crazy about Phil Middlemiss here, a little too abrasive. Loved seeing Daniel Casey, he would have been known to millions of viewers at the time as Sergeant Troy from Midsomer Murders, this is such a different performance, showing just how good an actor he is.

9/10.

Sam and the Mop Up
Hitchcoc7 March 2019
Sam is brought in to recheck the findings of a nationally celebrated pathologist whose accuracy as to time of death has come into question. The problem is that there is a psychopath out there who is a danger to anyone who crosses him. For some reason, he is able to function in a minimum security prison. There is one name that is brought up and we see that person making himself present as the episode ends.
