Trey Parker and Matt Stone said in an interview that this episode was made solely to show how evil Eric Cartman was.
Considered the best episode of the series by fans and critics, and was voted Cartman's finest hour in online polls.
Trey Parker originally thought to call the episode, "Scott Tenorall Must Die," but changed the title to "Scott Tenorman Must Die" because Tenorman was easier to pronounce.
There are two references to Mason Verger from Hannibal. Cartman mentions Verger's plan on having the pigs eat Hannibal. This is where Cartman gets the idea for the pony. Later, Cartman asks to taste Scott's tears. Verger refers to tasting the tears of his crying victims.
Aside from Jimbo and Ned, characters hiding in the Tenormans' bushes include Gerald Broflovski (clown), Randy Marsh (Groucho glasses), and Stuart McCormick (paper bag), as well as a man with pantyhose over his head (possibly Richard Tweak), and a man in SCUBA gear.
