Trivia

Carbolic acid is used by Dr. Parsons (actor Ed Nelson) to sterilize the operating room and prevent infection. The medical use of carbolic acid (phenol) for sterile, antiseptic surgery had been perfected in the late 1860's by British Surgeon Joseph Lister. By the 1870's (the time setting of "The Tall Man"), the use of carbolic acid by doctors and surgeons was becoming common and accepted. See more »

Quotes

Kate Baines: Do you think you need me?
Dr. Wade Parsons: It's not...
Kate Baines: Well, you do. You know a great deal about medicine, Doctor, but almost nothing about people.
Dr. Wade Parsons: Just a minute!
Kate Baines: The head and the heart make a doctor. Now if you think you have some to learn about people from the example of a doctor like my husband, I'll be glad to stay.
