Remarkable
Hitchcoc7 November 2019
I have to respond to the lukewarm comments here. I'm not being confrontational. Judge an episode by the episode, not by episode past. I thought this ending was so touching and loving. That's what is supposed to happen. These people became our friends. When there is a misunderstanding about whey Frasier is crying and the suspected cause, it was again a remarkable moment. Yes, it's syrupy. The speech he gives and the poem he recites are a necessary part of his being. He is a complex and, in some ways, a sad person. He needed to leave because he would have died in that incredible condo, alone. If not literally but, perhaps, emotionally. I didn't watch this show when it was on. I was a huge fan of cheers, but circumstances prevented me. Bless you Netflix for providing me with a regular, late night offering over a couple months. I would really like to see more commentary. There were hits and misses, but over time, cream rises to the top. I thought this last episode was as good as it gets.

"Wish Me Luck" (11x24)

Warning: Spoilers
Wow. I'm beyond impressed. That might be the greatest single finale episode of any TV show I've ever watched. It felt like such a fitting ending to all of the character's arcs that it was so satisfying to watch. Martin gets to love again, Daphne and Niles have a child together, Roz becomes the head of KACL and Frasier goes for love, and like the woman who sat next to him in the airplane... I wish him luck.

One of television's greatest finales
Analog_Devotee17 December 2020
I have started this series over countless times and often find myself watching reruns on cable whenever on, and this, the finale, always strikes me as surreal and sad at the same time. Frasier Crane may just be my favorite fictional character of all time -- from Cheers to what must be the most successful spin-off of all time. Frasier was part of what made the latter-half of Cheers a true ensemble cast. And this, the actual Frasier show, followed in footsteps one may think too difficult to even attempt filling... and yet they did it. Arguably, debatably (until the end of time?) even better than the predecessor. This finale will always have a close place in my heart. It boggles my mind that many fans don't feel the same, but, hey, you can't please everyone.

One of the great TV finales
phillipsbg17 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
There are plenty of great series which have underwhelming or overly-syrupy finales. Frasier ends on the highest of notes after a couple of seasons which divide opinion (though I still think season 11, while a little bumpy, contains 4 or 5 of the best episodes in the entire run, this one included). The Tennyson poem probably wouldn't have worked in anybody else's hands, but it fits so well with the character and the tone of the piece that it brings tears to my eyes, even though I've seen it dozens of times. It's also worth mentioning that this final episode contains one of the show's best ever gags - when Martin sits on the Eames chair which Frasier has put in place of the awful recliner, and Martin says that he would have been fine with the Eames all along. That's a gag which took 11 seasons to set up, and it was worth it.

A solid departure for an enjoyable series
zethiryuk21 June 2020
I was fairly underwhelmed by the last few series on the whole, but I thought the ending was satisfactory. Really loved how they managed to have one final profound moment of misunderstanding, that really put a nice bow on the comedic wit that made Frasier Frasier.

Frasier DID grow and develop

Warning: Spoilers
How did folks miss that fact that his job was in San Francisco, but his flight took him to Chicago - where Charlotte was? He didn't end up alone, a womanizer - he ended up pursuing the woman he loved, Charlotte. Great episode.

A good exit

Warning: Spoilers
Some viewers may not have liked the way it ended. From comments, others also didn't seem to like the series at all. As for this ending, it does show Frasier moving on. And finding love. If you remember the few episodes prior, and listen carefully when the landing announcement is made, you know he is landing in Chicago to be with Charlotte. Love won over career.

Was I the only one who was confused?
kgft12 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The whole time Fraser was trying to decide on whether to take the job in San Francisco, I kept wondering why he didn't look for one in Chicago to be with Charlotte. Then at the very end of this episode, which I found very enjoyable overall, we learn that he's visiting Chicago. I didn't understand that. It's unlikely Charlotte would move to SF after reestablishing her business in Chicago. What's more, if he were really serious about Charlotte he would discuss the whole situation with her before accepting the new job. That part of the episode didn't ring true to me, which is why I downgraded it to an 8.

I'm confused....
ntartaris30 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So what we know:

  • Frasier takes the job in SF

  • He lands in Chicago to be with/see Charlotte who gets her old business back and is established there.

Are these variables established to leave the ending to the viewer's imagination rather than tie a neat bow on Frasier's future?

Is he there to convince her to be with him in SF?

Is her there because he changed his mind and didn't take the SF job?

The more I type....the more I'm starting to think the ending is there to be determined by whatever the viewers want it to be in their head....the possibilities.

I'm glad I rewatched the series, as I didn't pick up that he landed in Chicago the last time I watched it. I always assumed him arriving in SF and asking to be wished good luck. Certainly added a final twist.

Goodnight, Seattle: Part 2
studioAT28 March 2016
The second half of the finale is a lovely affair, wrapping up 'Frasier' in the fashion and style we have come to expect from it.

It's funny, it's warm, it's touching, and there's a quality here that sadly had been missing consistently from the show in its last four years.

Overall, I think 'Frasier' was superb in its first seven years, but the quality did drop significantly after that. There were still excellent episodes, and indeed runs of episodes in Series eight to eleven, but you had to wade through a lot of so-so outings to get to them.

Really this doesn't matter -people will remember 'Frasier' at its best, and this is a fitting finale for the show that not only matched the one it was spun-off from, but also stood tall in its own right.

Frasier not true to himself
safenoe19 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I was excited to watch Goodnight Seattle as it was supposed to be a fitting end to an amazing series.

Upon reflection, it didn't seem Frasier was true to himself. I really thought he would end up with Roz, as they were made for each other as a couple. I just couldn't imagine Frasier wanting to try again (and probably fail) at yet another relationship. Sure Charlotte was kind and generous, but it just didn't ring true I'm afraid.

When the apartment was cleared out it reminded me of the folding of the tents in the M*A*S*H finale.

Maybe one day there will be another spin-off series. I'd like to see one called "Roz" where we follow up on Roz and her daughter, with guest appearances by Frasier and Niles.

My opinion
twanster-9765513 June 2020
I'll never understand why they insisted on turning frasier into a womaniser, if they knew the show was ending wouldn't it have been great to have had him leave with Charlotte? Wrote it so fate would have them end up together after all? I absolutely love the show but it was a shame to see a man who started out single in a new job, end such a long show as single and in a new job.. Almost no growth for his character. Niles and Martin both settled down but frasier is litterly meeting a new woman after losing another woman in the season final.. The episode is good fun and has alot of laughs but for me, the constant story of frasier losing a woman and finding a woman became boring.
