Endangered Animals and Land Value
gavin69428 December 2015
Penn and Teller ask if the Endangered Species Act is about saving rare animals, or just another Government grab for power.

Right off the bat, the episode is a bit misleading, because the title suggests that "endangered species" are BS, when the focus is actually on the federal law. Two very different things. As they point out early on, the law actually protects certain kinds of land and not animals specifically.

Having the co-founder of Greenpeace say that animal extinction is not the threat some say makes this interesting. Something is still a little off. The law and the government is bashed, and the importance of protecting species is suggested... but it seems like what is missing is a way in order to protect them.

Also, the story of the woman who bought land for a house and then could not because of rare birds... something seems missing in that, because when did it become known such birds were living there? Before she bought it or after? If before, she should have been informed. If after, how did they find out?
