Will Trick 'r Treat 2 Ever Happen? Director Gives Annual Halloween Update
Is Trick 'r Treat 2 ever going to happen? It's been a full decade since Trick 'r Treat, the cult classic horror anthology directed by Michael Dougherty, was initially released. In the years since, the movie has gained a tremendous amount of popularity and there have been calls for a sequel ever since. Now, Dougherty has once again weighed in on the prospect, providing us with an update on the possibility. While not ruling it out, the filmmaker does cast some doubt on it.

Michael Dougherty most recently directed Godzilla: King of the Monsters for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. It just so happens that Dougherty also made his beloved horror flick for Legendary as well. Speaking about the long-discussed sequel in a recent interview, Dougherty explained that Legendary, as a company, has changed hands, which added a layer of complication. Here's what he had to say about it.

From Streams to Screams: 27 Horror Anthology Films and Series to Get You in the Halloween Mood

  • DailyDead
Happy Monday, guys! For today’s installment of our ongoing “From Streams to Screams” series, we’re taking a moment to celebrate one of my favorite storytelling aspects in genre cinema: anthology films. The best part about horror anthologies, to me, is the fact that they often have something in them for every type of genre fan, which means that if you’re reading this, most likely there’s going to be something in this list you’ll enjoy.

One note: Nightmare Cinema doesn’t arrive on Shudder until late October, so I didn’t include it here, but you should definitely make time for it once it debuts on their service in a few weeks.

Tales from the Darkside: The Movie (Available on Hulu & Amazon Prime)

From Stephen King (Pet Sematary), Michael McDowell (Beetlejuice), George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead) and Arthur Conan Doyle (creator of Sherlock

Why Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Isn't a Traditional Horror Anthology

Why Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Isn't a Traditional Horror Anthology
Producer Guillermo del Toro and director Andre Ovredal's upcoming adaptation of Alvin Schwartz's kid's horror book series Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark will be unleashed upon the masses next month. I don't know about you, but I'm super excited to see what Del Toro and company have in store for us with this new flick.

And today we have word that over the weekend at Comic-Con, Guillermo del Toro explained why the upcoming family-friendly horror movie isn't taking the anthology route. And it makes a whole lot of sense. Del Toro explains this.

"When we started talking about this about five years ago, I had to think about it. Anthology films are always as bad as the worst story in them - they're never as good as the best story. Then I remembered in 'Pan's Labyrinth,' I created a book called the Book of Crossroads.

Early audiences are finally feasting their eyes on Godzilla: King of the Monsters and first reactions are stomping their way on to the internet. This time around, the title beast from the deep is joined by longtime monster rivals Rodan, Mothra, and the three-headed King Ghidorah. Joining in on the fun from the human side is Stranger Things star …

Glorious Final Trailer for Dougherty's 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters'

"Our planet will perish and so will we... Unless we set Godzilla free." Warner Bros has released the third & final official trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, to go along with the epic first two trailers and this one is just as unforgettably stunning. Somewhere over the rainbow lies monsters. This sequel to Gareth Edwards's Godzilla reboot from 2014 is directed by Mike Dougherty, and it's looking even more epic as Godzilla will battle other recently unearthed massive monsters, including Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three headed King Ghidorah. King of the Monsters features Millie Bobby Brown (from "Stranger Things") as well as Bradley Whitford, Vera Farmiga, Sally Hawkins, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Kyle Chandler, Thomas Middleditch, Zhang Ziyi, Charles Dance, with Ken Watanabe. This is my most anticipated movie of the summer, looks jaw-droppingly awesome in every way. Here's the third & final trailer (+ poster) for Dougherty's Godzilla:

Godzilla 2 Will Unleash Never-Before-Seen Kaiju Monsters

Godzilla 2 Will Unleash Never-Before-Seen Kaiju Monsters
We already knew Godzilla: King of the Monsters was going to be a monster-packed affair, and it just got even more overstuffed with kaiju craziness. Not only are Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah, three classic Toho creations making their way to the big screen in this sequel, but it's been revealed that it's also going to contain at least one, if not more new monsters created specifically for this movie. That's a lot of monsters.

This new information comes directly from director Michael Dougherty, whose previous works include Krampus and Trick 'r Treat. He was on hand at Monsterpalooza over the weekend. Some of that event was overshadowed a tiny bit in the news cycle by the goings on at Star Wars Celebration. Dougherty, at one point, talked about what we can expect from the monsters in Godzilla 2 and he revealed this juicy little nugget. Here's what he had to say.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is Bringing Back the Spirit of Toho

Mike Cecchini May 28, 2019

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will retain the realistic feel of the 2014 movie, but with more kaiju, more tech, and more...everything.

Fenway Park has seen better days. A chunk of the stadium appears to have been pulverized. A section of the concourse is blocked by debris, obstructing access to the restrooms. This can’t be attributed to Fenway’s status as the oldest ballpark in America. And even though the home of the Boston Red Sox has a Green Monster in residence of its own, it would appear that the damage this time was done by an even bigger one.

Of course, this isn’t Fenway Park, just a section that has been recreated on an appropriately massive soundstage outside of Atlanta, Georgia. This 300,000 square foot warehouse also houses wonders like an undersea base for a global team of super scientists, a mysterious arctic outpost, two different rainforests,

How 'King of Monsters' Looks to Deliver the Definitive Godzilla

It appears that Warner Bros. and Legendary took Dr. Ishiro Serizawa’s line “let them fight” from Godzilla (2014) to heart. The new trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which follows the stunning teaser debut from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, promises monster mayhem like never before.

Directed by Michael Dougherty, who previously tackled monsters of a much smaller variety in Trick 'r Treat (2007) and Krampus (2015), Godzilla: King of the Monsters not only reintroduces the titular kaiju, but also favorites like Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah from Toho’s beloved franchise. It’s been four years since Gareth Edwards rebooted ...

"Which of these titans are here to protect us?" Holy crap!! Warner Bros has revealed the second official full-length trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, following a presentation at Brazil's Comic-Con this weekend. Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Millie Bobby Brown (from "Stranger Things") plus Bradley Whitford, Vera Farmiga, Sally Hawkins, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Kyle Chandler, Thomas Middleditch, Zhang Ziyi, Charles Dance, with Ken Watanabe. This looks awesome!! It looks so massively epic, bigger than almost anything else coming out next year. The big shots of Ghidorah vs Godzilla at the end are jaw dropping. Wow. Blu-ray Review: Trick 'R Treat Does the Season Right

It's hard to believe, but it's been 11 years since Michael Doughtery's landmark horror anthology Trick 'r Treat was released. It's been almost as long as that since I've seen the film, and it's always interesting to reflect on how much I've changed or have stayed the same as a viewer. Personal growth can mean that something you once revered could lose its shine, whether that's a little or a lot is a sliding scale.  For instance, Trick 'r Treat is a really fun film, excecuted adeptly with beautiful lighting and very good perfomances. The stories recall the old EC Comics tales as did Creepshow and Tales From the Crypt, but in 2007, it'd been awhile since a horror anthology had been in the spotlight or had tread new...

Halloween Horror Nights is one of the best events of the year at the best time of year for horror fanatics, and this year is no exception. The event occurs at Universal Studios theme parks in Florida, California, Singapore, and Japan, with each park throwing their own spin on some of the same mazes and attractions. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre May Be Getting a TV Series and a New Film

I've got some big news for all of you horror movie fans out there. According to Bloody-Disgusting, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre film franchise may end up getting a TV series and a new film.

The rights to the horror franchise are currently held by Kim Henkel, the writer and producer of the original 1974 film. He also directed the 1994 movie, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation. It looks like the property is about to land at a new home and it looks like that home will be Legendary Entertainment, where "a series and more films are inevitable."

There have been attempts in the past to rive The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but Texas Chainsaw 3D and Leatherface were both big disappointments. Maybe Legendary will bring on a talented creative team to actually revive the franchise in a way that fans will appreciate.

One other cool thing that I want to point out

Universal's Classic Monsters Are Coming to Halloween Horror Nights!

I've always thought it would be awesome if one year Universal Studios transformed their entire park to represent the classic movie monsters that helped launch the studio. I guess the next best thing would be to see a creepy maze and attraction that pays tribute to these Universal monsters, which is exactly what they are doing. Except for the fact that it will put a contemporary twist on the classic horror icons. I don't know why they feel they need to do that, but they are.

The new maze will also feature an original score that was produced and composed by Slash, who, as you know, is one of the best electric guitar players of all time. Here are the details on the maze:

At its core, “Halloween Horror Nights” is an extension of the horror film legacy originated by Universal Pictures and introduced to audiences in the 1920s…with
