Fine, let's go talk to the postal inspector

Warning: Spoilers
The cast was three highway patrol and three bad guys. The shoot-out on the streets of the small town is more frightening than the episode's forthcoming action. The shootout included the murder of a bank robber by his accomplices. There are four criminals making their getaway as the story begins, one is killed immediately by his peers, the other is seriously wounded, lie dying on the sidewalk, and the final two escape within the town to a motel. One of the three bad guys is in fact a woman, the widow of the slain robber, who has a stash of loot from a prior holdup and the two escapees are planning to take that money from her. Both the Highway Patrol and the bank robbers are waiting on the widow to make her move with the stolen money; an both parties are watching for her to move. The standard roadblocks are put in place, there is little chance of leaving town without being caught. When the widow does make a break for it she places a parcel in her mailbox and then leaves her driveway luggage in the back seat. The two bank robbers are first to grab her, one guy in particular, surprising her in a grove with the Highway Patrol close behind. The confrontations commence, one at a time the guilty parties are captured, there is gunfire but nobody is harmed. With the three in cuffs, Chief Dan Mathews asks the widow do you mind if I open this? Yes, I do mind, that's Federal mail. Fine, let's go talk to the postal inspector.

For the unusual limited cast and surroundings this episode played out satisfactorily. Dan and Sgt. Williams were in tandem all the way capturing the criminals before they could inflict any more harm on mankind or escape. An episode worth watching for the use of smart police work, a quick capture without any more bloodshed.
