Nice to see the NFL back on the peacock. Plus the idea of flex schedules is super!
blanbrn12 December 2006
Finally after an 8 year vacation NFL football is back on NBC, and this time the peacock has struck gold! NBC this season airs the Sunday night games, the games are always the best many featuring division rivals, and teams with good records heading towards the playoffs. And the concept of the second half schedule being in flex is the greatest idea that a network could have came up with! No longer do you have to worry about late season games with teams with bad records that have no playoff shot, as NBC was given league permission to take in their opinion the best game away from one of the other two networks and air it on Sunday night. So no longer do you have to worry about seeing a bad game, plus the games are always meaningful and good. Before the game airs each week you have football night in America the studio show with the latest news and highlights of the games played that afternoon. The Studio show is great with veterans as host Bob Costas is never at a loss for words and Chris Collinsworth provides his best take on the league as always he knows his stuff, and Bettis and Sharpe seem OK as newcomers. Another great move by NBC was the broadcast team that they have chosen to call the games the best in the business as Al Michaels and John Madden at the mike enough said. Michaels and Madden have out worked everyone and their knowledge of the game can't be matched. As for the sideline reporting it is good with the informative and elegant Andrea Kremer who was an ex ESPN reporter, the broadcasters working together are just great and they make Sunday nights enjoyable. NBC has the best football games going today it now puts Monday Night Football to shame, so don't miss Sunday nights.

Nice for NBC to have SNF, but

Cris Collinsworth needs to go. He is always second-guessing what a coach/team does. If he wants to coach, get out of the booth and get on the sidelines.

This is specifically for OrangieTooDope review. It is one thing to have bad opinions about Al Michaels and Cris Collnsworth. Even though both are considered the best in their profession if you don't like them you don't like them, fine. But don't make up lies as to why. You claim Cris hates the Steelers bc they kept him in last place most of his career. How absurdly wrong you are. The Bengals finished ahead of the Steelers 5 out of his 8 years. They only finished last once. They went to 2 SBs during his time to the Steelers zero appearances during that time. So maybe you stick to reviewing things you have knowledge about as to avoid this kind of embarrassment again

Best darn football program on T V!
mm-3925 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Best darn football program on T V! Why because Sunday night has the biggest t v audience. At one time, Monday Night Football had the best broadcasters, production, games etc. So many people use to have Monday evenings off. Sadly, in today's 24 7 world many people work Monday evenings. Most people have Sunday evenings off, so the Sunday game has the highest ratings. For a guy like me who works almost every Sunday afternoon, and many Monday evenings Sunday night football is great. After Sunday dinner the game becomes a family event! I love the broadcast team, production and games. If there is a dog of a game listed or a more important game on Sunday Night Football will change the schedule for the big game to be on that time slot. I am a Patriot's fan so I will get my fill on Sunday Night Football. I give "NBC Sunday Night Football" a ten out of ten.

The Only Way to Wrap Up Your Weekend
ThereelscoopwithKK16 January 2023
Sunday Night Football is the perfect broadcast to wrap up football day in America. Whether your team wins or loses during the day games or you're waiting for your team to play on Monday Night Football the league usually gives you a solid matchup for the Sunday Night game to enjoy. Chris Collinsworth makes the broadcast so that anyone listening can appreciate the game and enjoy the festivities. Mike Tirico is also a very nice addition to the team, the man is simply pure class. Lastly, Melissa Stark also does a great job on field.

Beyond the broadcast team the product on the field is fantastic. It's a real treat to watch these athletes lay it on the line each week.

Go Cowboys !

Sunday Night Is the New Monday Night

Warning: Spoilers
But that they are in the SNF there as that they are allowed to flex as in replace games that could be boring to that over in exciting there. As it is the first of it's kind there.

John Madden would retire in 2009 and Cris Collinsworth the current partner of Al Michaels as they both had chemistry in the booth and are like best friends off it.

Michelle Tayfola is a great presence as sideline reporter. Smarts and beauty.

NBC Nice to See It Back as Well As Flex Schedule!
ShelbyTMItchell8 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
NBC it is great to see football back. After not having it in 1998 anymore and then back on 2006. With the flex schedule meaning they can change a more important game for a less important game at the last second.

Al Michaels and John Madden really were the team as now that Madden has retired. Cris Collingsworth is OK. But nowhere as good as Madden was and still is.

But still the flex schedule was groundbreaking. As it is good that they do that in the nearly middle to end of the season where it really counts. ESPN Monday Night Football has ruined the ABC way of the show. Thank goodness for NBC Sunday Night Football to the rescue!

Petition to remove Cris Collinsworth from Sunday night football
susanetter-062396 November 2023
Cris Collinsworth is so irritating with his voice and his comments about the Bengals. He is no expert and half of what he says no one cares to listen to. I know there are other announcers out there that would be much better than he is. I've been reading a lot of comments about him and lots and lots of people are sick of him. I don't know what you do to get him off of this Sunday night football. I love watching football, and I love the Cincinnati Bengals, but I almost don't want to watch, and actually on many occasions have turned off the volume because I can't stand hearing his irritating voice. Hopefully someone is paying attention to the comments that we see here and he needs to go.

Chris Collinsworth is Shameless
Johnny_West9 December 2019
I love NFL Football, but it is hard to enjoy the broadcasts, listening to the endless butt-munch Chris Collinsworth. Every penalty, every suspension, every thing Roger Goodell does has to be praised by Collinsworth. It sounds like a religious show sometimes when Collinsworth goes on a roll of pointing out how everything that the NFL does is good. He even praises the most bogus pass-interference calls by the referees.

I pray every year that Collinsworth will retire or get replaced. It would be nice to hear somebody that sounded neutral. Not to mention that when the New England Patriots are playing, it is 99% praising Tom Brady, and 1% discussing the other team. Collinsworth is the worst brown-noser that has ever been a broadcaster on any major sports program. Please retire Chris.

How are these guys on tv????
13Funbags8 October 2018
Collinsworth and Michaels are the most biased and ignorant sportscasters ever. Collinsworth lives to talk bad about about the Steelers because they kept his crappy team in last place for the vast majority of his career. While Michaels just always agrees with the idiotic opinions. They even defended players refusing to play the last year of their contract! They publicly endorsed breaking legal contracts. Total scum.

Continuity of the Game Is Gone
justmargie-6143123 December 2019
There's no way to feel the momentum of an NFL game anymore. Between the extended commercial breaks and the horrible commentary, the game is like reviewing outtakes. Chris Collingsworth has ALWAYS run his mouth incessantly but now he refuses to keep his comments pertaining to the teams currently playing. In fact, he has difficulty staying in this decade. Then there are the childish graphics from the stats geeks. The stats they presented are irrelevant and often so obscure--who cares? Tonight we tried to watch Chiefs vs Bears. Forget it! The coverage was SO choppy it was almost unwatchable.

I'm seeing more and more stadiums with diminished attendance. The NFL better pay attention to their fan base. Shannon Sharpe on the sports talk show Undisputed that he watches games with the sound muted. Soon we'll move from muting to turning it off entirely.

NBC is losing it
niallfogarty-4962528 September 2021
Cris Collingsworth is getting cringeworthy .... he's awful to listen to .... his over exuberant big ups are awful. Al is still great but collingsworth was never that good. He had a good couple of years when he was new but.... nah go away Cris you're too ass-kisserie.

Chris Collingsworth
janchristinson15 January 2024
Chris Collingsworth is a terrible football announcer. We have been avid football fans for the last 20 years and then some. This guy, though, takes every ounce of joy we have in football and completely ruins it.

This season we have muted him every Sunday night. He repeatedly comes prepared for the team he thinks would, or should, be the stronger team. Obviously, the fans that tune in that are rooting for what CHRIS COLLINGSWORTH considers the inferior team don't matter.

On a personal note, my husband has Stage Four cancer. We look forward to football this year in particular as it's difficult for him to go places. Why should we be subjected to such an inadequate football announcer, to the degree of having to mute him?

Mike Tirico Cris Collinsworth should be replaced.
velee-288334 December 2023
I'll say it right up front I am a Green Bay Packers Fan. Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth were very obviously Chiefs Fan and I found there bias revolting and out of place. I think they owe your Sunday Night Football audience an apology for their misplaced bias for the Chiefs and their disdain for the Packers. How they overlooked the bad calls against the Packers and emphasized the bad calls against the Chiefs was inexcusable. We all hope sports commentators can be at least a bit fair.

Even though they complimented Jordan Love and his young receiving core, they failed to acknowledge the problems the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes were incurring because of the Packers Defense. Referees are human that's why replay and red flags have become part of the game. The game does not need Mike Tirico or Cris Collinsworth. Please make a change.

Thank You.

Callingworse
garfield-894608 January 2024
Chris Collinsworth can flat out make any game unbearable to listen too. He has no spine to make a stand one way or another. Every player is the best. Every call is right. He just jumps on Every band wagon and spews out a diatribe of useless praise. It takes away from the game. Anyone that understands football turns off volume so they are not irritated with his choice to not put any expertise into his craft. I know he must know he is spewing out garbage. Wish network would get new person so I could enjoy with volume on. If Chris could not be such a Homer of every player it would be easier to stomach his in ability to portray a football analyst. Pregame is his sweet spot not during the actual game.

Thanks Terry S.
