- It's Den and Angie's wedding anniversary. Pauline and Arthur's secret is a secret no more. The police have started an investigation in Albert Square.
- The episode begins with Dennis Watts speaking on the phone to his mistress. He tells her that he cant see her that night, as it is his wedding anniversary, and then pretends to be talking to a rep when his wife Angie and daughter Sharon enter the room.
There has been a fight in the pub between Nick and Ali and Nick has put his fist through the glass of the front door. Angie is telling Den that doing up the bar is a waste, and they begin to argue. Their daughter Sharon intervenes to try and stop them arguing.
They then go downstairs to celebrate their 17th wedding anniversary - and have a family photo taken, including Roly the dog, and another photo with some of the regulars. Angie has a few too many and steals Arthur away to play darts.
Pauline leaves early she is a bit concerned about the new baby coming but doesnt let on to anyone about it not even her sister-in law Kathy Beale. Arthur comes out and walks her home. He is quite drunk and tells Pauline he is going back to the Queen Vic and is going to tell Kath and Pete Beale, which he does. Lou is still angry about the pregnancy and Arthur goes from not wanting to go home to wanting to go home and have it out with her. Kath and Pete convince him to come home with them. Angie is very drunk too and Den carries her upstairs.
The next day Ali goes to see Dr Legg, injured from his fight with Nick Cotton. He asks about Reg Cox and whether if he had found him sooner if he would have been OK. Later he and Sue are discussing Reg and Ali is obviously feeling guilty about not checking on him sooner, whereas Sue is more interested in whether they could get his room.
Ethel is collecting money to buy flowers for Reg, but Sue wont contribute because she doesnt like Reg or hypocrisy.
Meanwhile Arthur borrows money from Pete to buy chocolates for Lou, but she is not impressed with his efforts and puts an ultimatum to him. Either they get rid of the baby, by abortion or adoption - or move out of her house.
Mr Chumley from the brewery arrives at The Queen Vic. Angie sends Ethel out to watch for Den who is out buying some cheap whiskey that they dont want Mr Chumley to know about, but she gets distracted talking to Arthur and doesnt warn him. Den walks in with the whiskey and tells Mr Chumley that the whiskey is for a private party they are having on Wednesday night and invites him to attend.
A Detective Inspector Marsh goes to see Dr Legg and the episode ends with him telling Dr Legg that he is in charge of the enquiry into Reg Coxs murder.
