Reformed ex-convict Jerry Singleton finally stands up to blackmailer Nathan Coley and refuses to pay. Coley threatens Singleton and his wife Marge with a gun and a struggle ensues. When the gun discharges during the struggle, Jerry is seriously wounded and Coley is killed. Jerry is fearful of facing a murder charge because of his past record, so he grabs the gun and flees. Despite Jerry's instructions, Marge calls the Highway Patrol. Dan Mathews and Sergeant Williams verify that the killing was an accident, but they must chase the injured and weakening Jerry into rough terrain. When Jerry is found, he stubbornly refuses to surrender and Dan sends for Marge in a last-ditch effort to reason with him. Written by Sam Spear
