  [gives him the "Captain" armband] 

  Ted Lasso : Oh. No, sir. You're my captain. That's the rule.

  [gives the armband back] 

  Roy Kent : No. The captain has to be on the pitch. That's the rule.

  [gives the band back] 

  Ted Lasso : I say that the current captain has to pick the new captain. That's my new rule.

  [passes back the armband] 

  Roy Kent : Don't want to.

  [tosses it to Ted] 

  Ted Lasso : Well, you have to.

  [tosses it back] 

  Roy Kent : I decline.

  Ted Lasso : I insist.

  Roy Kent : Can't make me.

  [throws it] 

  Ted Lasso : Roy Kent, until you choose your successor,

  [folding the band in his palm] 

  Ted Lasso : your duties as captain of this squad remain unfulfilled.

  [and makes it disappear - then reveals it's in his other hand and tosses it to a perfect landing on Roy's head. Beard is delighted] 

  Roy Kent : [deadpan]  This is why it's hard to love you.

  [and leaves the room] 

  Ted Lasso : Oh!

  [whispers] 

  Ted Lasso : You heard it, right?

  Coach Beard : He loves you!
