Image Source: 20th Century Studios One of the most discussed contenders during the 2019 awards season was the compelling sports biography, Ford v Ferrari. The film, which had four Academy Award nominations including the coveted Best Picture, attracted greatly attention. Under the capable James Mangold and with the star power of two Academy Award winners – Christian Bale, portraying the tenacious race car driver Ken Miles, and Matt Damon, embodying the visionary former driver and automotive designer Carroll Shelby – the stage was set for a compelling cinematic experience. Mostly because of the strong core performances, Ford v Ferrari enthralls fresh viewers even years after its original release. A testament to its continuing brilliance, the movie has an amazing 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Particularly for his subtle interpretation of a real-life character, Christian Bale earned a lot of praise. Bale had previously won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his gripping...

The Golden Globes just announced the date of the 2026 ceremony, for all those award show superfans who like to plan out their TV viewing schedules seven months in advance. Nikki Glaser will be returning to host, and presumably Ricky Gervais will be returning to tweet out worse monologue jokes from his bathtub.
While much of Hollywood seemed to enjoy Glaser’s act, the hype surrounding the comedian’s Golden Globes debut was very much focused on her comedy roast cred. Obviously this made some stars nervous. And, apparently, it made one star in particular very nervous.
Glaser appeared at the TIME100 summit, and revealed that several attendees of the Golden Globes told her afterwards that they were “really, really scared” about what she was going to say, purely because of the Tom Brady roast. But as Glaser pointed out, she’s “hired to be mean” at roasts, whereas at the Golden Globes,...

Timothee Chalamet apparently considered avoiding being in Nikki Glaser‘s presence while she roasted him.
If you didn’t know, when the 40-year-old comedian hosted the Golden Globes back in January, she made a joke about Timothee‘s portrayal of Bob Dylan in the film A Complete Unknown.
“Timothée Chalamet, you have the most gorgeous eyelashes — on your upper lip. That is such a good look. You were so good and in A Complete Unknown as Bob Dylan. I read that your singing voice was so accurate that even Bob Dylan admitted that it was absolutely horrible,” Nikki said during her speech.
However, Nikki later revealed that the 29-year-old actor almost skipped out on the monologue during the event.

While Nikki Glaser received high praise from critics, celebrities and fellow comedians like Jon Stewart, who tweeted “Nikki Glaser is very good at this,” for her opening monologue at the 2025 Golden Globes, Glaser recalls some stars were a bit nervous to be put on the spot by her.
Timothée Chalamet, in particular, nominated for his role in A Complete Unknown and who attended with girlfriend Kylie Jenner, seemed wary of being roasted. Because Glaser “loved his performance” in A Complete Unknown, she knew she wanted to make a joke about him in her monologue.
“That got back to him, and he was just going to skip my monologue and get there late, just so he didn’t have to deal with it,” Glaser said Wednesday during a panel discussion at the Time100 Summit. “I get it, because he’s there with his girlfriend who is already the subject of so many jokes.

20th Century Studios has released the trailer for “Predator: Badlands,” the sixth installment in the beloved action sci-fi franchise. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the film stars Elle Fanning as two twin sisters.
Trachtenberg previously directed “Prey,” the last installment in the “Predator” film series. “Prey” was released exclusively on Hulu and went on to score four nominations at the 2024 Emmys. It would take home the win for outstanding sound editing. Trachtenberg’s other directorial bouts include films like “10 Cloverfield Lane,” and shows such as “The Lost Symbol,” “The Boys,” “Black Mirror” and “BlackBoxTV.”
Fanning recently starred as Russian monarch Cathrine the Great in three seasons of Hulu’s “The Great” and starred opposite Timothée Chalamet as Sylvie Russo in James Mangold’s Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown.” Some of her former credits include “Super 8,” “Maleficent,” “Trumbo,” “The Boxtrolls,” “The Neon Demon” and “B’Twixt Now and Sunrise.

Exclusive: In a competitive situation, Lionsgate has landed Renegotiate, a high-concept action-thriller spec by Mark Townend, sources tell us.
The film centers on a troubled FBI crisis negotiator who finds himself stuck in a time loop, re-living the events of a bombing and struggling to stop it before time runs out. Think Source Code meets Phone Booth. Ric Roman Waugh and Brendon Boyea will produce for CineMachine, alongside Brian Kavanagh Jones and Fred Berger for Range, with Aj Bourscheid executive producing.
Townend’s deal is remarkable, we’re told, for a writer with no produced credits, particularly given that the script was taken out without any talent attachments. Sources described the outcome as a three-way bidding war that resulted in a mid-six-figure guaranteed fee against a low-seven-figure purchase/bonus. The script was taken out on the first Monday of April, and by Friday of that week, 20 premium production companies were chasing aggressively.

In a major shift for Oscar voting protocol, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that members will now be required to confirm they’ve watched all nominated films in a category before being allowed to vote in that race.
The initiative, aimed at strengthening the integrity and credibility of the awards process, combines digital tracking through the Academy Screening Room with member-reported viewings — building on a structure already familiar to Academy voters.
How It Works
Beginning with the 98th Academy Awards, ballots during the final voting phase will only unlock for members who have verified they’ve watched all nominated films in a given category. This requirement applies across all 24 competitive Oscar categories, from best picture and the acting races to costume design and the newly introduced award for casting.

The original slate for James Gunn's Dcu was released to the public in a video in January 2023. In that video, Gunn himself gave a very minimal synopsis on each of the announced projects, which told of a very expansive list of various movies and TV shows of varying genres and characters. However, a little over a month ago, Gunn and Peter Safran gave an update on the future state of the Dcu, with little or no news on most of the projects announced in that initial video update.
So what's the deal? Is Gunn's Dcu in trouble before it even begins? Let's find out!
1. What projects were in the original Dcu slate?
James Gunn's initial announcement of his planned slate was titled Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, which included 11 projects: 5 movies and 6 TV shows. The five movies were Superman, The Authority, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, The Brave and the Bold,...

On Monday, April 21, The Academy’s Board of Governors released a sweeping list of their newly approved awards rules and campaign promotional regulations for the 98th Academy Awards set for Sunday, March 15, 2026.
One of the more fascinating aspects of the new rules is how many directly address the several scandals swirling around last year’s Oscar campaign. For instance, in response to all the claims of Best Picture nominees from “The Brutalist” to “A Complete Unknown” using some form generative artificial intelligence, the Academy’s Science and Technology Council has approved new eligibility language that reads: “With regard to Generative Artificial Intelligence and other digital tools used in the making of the film, the tools neither help nor harm the chances of achieving a nomination. Jesse Eisenberg's A Real Pain Follow-up Movie Acquired by A24 as The Little Mermaid Star Boards Cast

Jesse Eisenberg's next movie has just received two exciting updates. As production kicks off on the actor-turned-filmmaker's A Real Pain follow-up, indie studio A24 has acquired the feature.
Per Deadline, A24 has acquired Eisenberg's next directorial feature, an untitled musical comedy that kicked off production earlier this month. Emma Stone and Dave McCary will produce through their Fruit Tree production company with Ali Herting, while Topic Studios is on board as an executive producer. The project continues Eisenberg's partnership with both Fruit Tree and A24, following his directorial debut When You Finish Saving the World. The 2022 comedy drama film starred Julianne Moore and Finn Wolfhard as a mother and son navigating their contentious relationship while trying to connect with other people.
The other update concerning this movie is its cast, which has been rounded out with several exciting additions. Halle Bailey (The Little Mermaid), Havana Rose Liu (Lurker), and...

A24 has boarded Jesse Eisenberg’s next film behind the camera — the untitled musical comedy, starring Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti, on which we were first to report in November. Sources said this was a worldwide negative pickup, in the vein of the studio’s deal for Heretic, the horror hit from Scott Beck and Bryan Woods.
The film follows a shy woman (Moore) who is unexpectedly cast in a community theater musical production, going to extremes as she loses herself in the role. Last month, fans got their hands on the new book in the ‘Hunger Game’ series from author Suzanne Collins. The book served to show the events that transpired prior to ‘Hunger Games.’
For example, ‘Sunrise On the Reaping’ kicks off with the 50th edition of the games, whilst Katniss participated in the 74th edition. Just like in ‘A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,’ we’ll be meeting characters we originally got acquainted with in ‘Hunger Games.’
The catch is that it will be the younger versions, so their vices and drives will be different from what it is in ‘Hunger Games.’ Production for this latest addition to the world of ‘Hunger Games’ is already underway, and with it, comes the casting news. Here’s what we know so far about who’s playing who.

Many regular theater-goers in New York likely play the following game. Before the show begins, try to guess how many of the actors you're about to see have been on an episode of "Law & Order" or one of its spinoffs. It may be wise to guess a number north of 15. After that, you open your Playbill and look through the actors' credits to confirm your guess. The person who comes closest without going over wins; everyone else has to pay for their meal after the show.
The "Law & Order" franchise has, as of this writing, close to 1,400 episodes under its belt, and each one of those episodes required at least one dead body and at least two suspects. This makes the property a hoop through which every working actor (especially in New York) has to inevitably jump. It's like entering the cave and taking the sword at the...

You know what it’s like when you have a problem, or maybe a few of them, and they start to interlock and overwhelm you, and you’re frozen and can’t take action, until hope seems to be fading or maybe even lost, and then one day you wake up and realize…that you need therapy?
The movie industry needs therapy.
It needs a lot of things, of course, starting with hits and more hits. That’s the long and short of it, isn’t it? But considering that we still do have hits, as well as audiences who go out to movie theaters to create them, it’s worth asking why a healthier industry — one that generates more hits than it does now, with the consistency that happened in the ’90s and ’00s — is starting to feel so desperately out of reach.
This is where the therapy comes in.

As Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk, Vincent D'Onofrio seems to have checked off all the comic book movie dreams anyone could have. It seems though that he still has his eye on one upcoming Dcu movie role that he would seemingly love to add to his superhero resume. Responding to a question on X/Twitter, the actor, who is set to return as Kingpin in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, really wants to play Swamp Thing, and this isn’t the first time he’s pitched the idea.
It is impossible to think of anyone else playing Kingpin in Marvel’s Daredevil franchise, and although there was a time when it looked like his run as the ultra-violent crime boss – and now Mayor of New York – had come to an abrupt end when Netflix’s Marvel shows were shut down in 2018. The next chapter in the story of Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown) just got a thrilling update. Deadline reports that Mission: Impossible and Percy Jackson and the Olympians star Timothy Omundson has joined the Paradise Season 2 cast, alongside S.W.A.T. star Michael McGrady. Both stars reportedly play recurring roles that tie directly into Agent Xavier Collins’ story, but specifics about their characters are being kept under wraps. This news comes not long after Paradise Season 2 kicked off production and also cast other stars such as Shailene Woodley and Thomas Doherty in recurring roles. Hulu has yet to set an official release date for Paradise Season 2, but it is expected to premiere sometime in 2026. There has been no word on if James Marsden will return as President Cal Bradford.

Timothée Chalamet has become a very big deal over the last decade or so. With two Academy Award nominations and an ever-expanding list of excellent movies under his belt, the actor has flaunted his talent in a vast array of roles that range from playing Bob Dylan in "A Complete Unknown" (2024) to starring as Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" movies and following Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp in portraying eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka in "Wonka" (2023). That's a lot, especially from a young actor who seems destined to turn in great roles for many decades to come.
Any one of Chalamet's best movies is a great way for a movie fan to spend a couple of hours glued to their seat. However, few prolific actors can maintain a perfect win record throughout their career, and even one as wildly successful as Chalamet has a few less than beloved films in his CV.

Google and Range Media Partners are joining forces to launch “AI On Screen,” a program commissioning short films from filmmakers and a range of voices across genres that delves into the complex relationship between humanity and AI.
The companies are looking for stories that will resonate on a deeply human level, especially among discerning next-generation audiences, exploring the emotional and ethical dilemmas that arise when we intertwine our lives with intelligent machines.
The two companies will spend the next 18 months developing, financing and producing these short films with a goal to greenlight two into feature-length adaptations. Google and Range say they have built a “comprehensive ecosystem that will empower filmmakers at a pivotal moment where AI’s role requires extensive discussion and diverse viewpoints.”

We are still four months away from pressing play on Jason Momoa's (A Minecraft Movie) passion project — the epic series Chief of War. However, as it teased all of its summer releases, Apple TV+ offered a brief glimpse of the show and its epic scale. The cast also features Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent) and Tamuera Morrison (Star Wars), and the nine-episode series is set to debut on August 1.
Even though it's not much revealing, the teaser does hint at the scale of the show, and it looks like once again Apple TV+ has spared no expense to make a new title look as good as possible. The first bit shows Momoa among a huge slate of warriors who look like they are about to enter a massive battle. Then, we get a look at the show's impressive costume design and get the notion that Momoa's character Ka'iana is...

Kylie Jenner is reportedly insecure in her relationship with Timothée Chalamet. Warner Bros. Discovery is currently gearing up to unleash James Gunn's "Superman" and launch its brand-new DC Universe following an ignoble end to its previous one (commonly referred to as the DC Extended Universe). It's not a stretch to say that "Superman" has the power to save or destroy an iconic movie studio, which is why it's sort of funny to see a superhero movie from Marvel and Disney currently dominating Warner's streaming service.
Back in 2019, Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, giving the studio — which already owned Marvel Studios and the behemoth that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe — access to the Fox line of superhero movies, including the X-Men saga. Then, in 2021, Disney+ and HBO Max (as it was then known) reached a deal to allow 20th Century movies to stream on both platforms. The result? Well, there have been a lot of different outcomes, including the cameo-packed "Deadpool & Wolverine" in 2024. Today,...

Not winning an Oscar can do funny things to people. Look at Leonardo DiCaprio. He tried harder and harder with every successive loss until he eventually made The Revenant, the movie equivalent of getting punched in the face for likes on TikTok. And so we come to Timothée Chalamet. Now, on paper Chalamet doesn’t need to worry about winning an Oscar, because he played the lead in two films that were nominated for best picture. That’s a huge achievement, especially when you consider that those films – Dune: Part Two...

Fresh off the success of his Oscar-nominated role of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, Timothée Chalamet is set to appear as table tennis legend Marty Reisman in Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme. The film's cinematographer, Darius Khondji, recently revealed that audiences won't recognize Chalamet "at all" in the film and also provided some insight into how hard the rising star actor worked to bring Reisman to the big screen.
Speaking with Variety, Khondji revealed that Chalamet, who famously spent years preparing to play the iconic folk singer Bob Dylan in James Mangold's A Complete Unknown, used the same work ethic for his role of real-life table tennis legend Marty Reisman in A24'sMarty Supreme. "He wanted to be like a real [professional] ping pong player when he started shooting," Knondji said. Marty Supreme won't be a conventional biopic, instead, it will be loosely based on the life of Marty Resiman,...

Timothée Chalamet trained “for months and months” for his title role in Josh Safdie’s upcoming “Marty Supreme” about professional ping pong player Marty Reisman, reports Darius Khondji, the hotly anticipated film’s ace cinematographer. He added that he expects the A24 film’s Christmas 2025 release “to be box office dynamite.”
Khondji, who spoke to Variety on the sidelines of the Doha Film Institute’s Qumra workshop where he is a mentor, hasn’t yet seen “Marty Supreme,” which is now being edited in New York. But he underlined that “everything I hear is spectacular,” adding that “the shooting was so hard and crazy.”
Chalamet, who prepared for five years to play Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown,” also trained intensely for his role as Reisman – who started his career as a hustler in Manhattan and went on to win 22 major ping pong titles from 1946 to 2002 – “because you can do anything,...

With the rumors and speculations soaring around the upcoming final installment (Star Trek 4 ) of the J.J. In the realm of dinosaur movies, there is pretty much the "Jurassic Park" films and everything else. You might also call them the "Jurassic World" films, depending on which generation of the fandom one belongs to. Either way, we're talking about a series of tentpoles that has endured for well over 30 years at this point with no signs of slowing down. Case in point, Steven Spielberg's first two entries in the franchise are currently dominating Hulu.
Per FlixPatrol, Spielberg's original 1993 blockbuster classic "Jurassic Park" is currently the number two movie on Hulu, trailing only the Oscar-nominated Bob Dylan biopic "A Complete Unknown." Adding more fuel to the fire, Spielberg's 1997 follow-up, "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," is sitting comfortably in the number four position on the streamer's charts, just behind the Best Picture Oscar winner "Anora." That's pretty good company to be in.

CinemaCon was rocking on Thursday, thanks to the Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere.
The 20th Century film stars Jeremy Allen White as the New Jersey-born music legend, known around the world as the Boss. Jeremy Strong co-stars as Jon Landau, Springsteen’s manager and record producer. Both actors took the stage at the Las Vegas event to present the movie’s first trailer.
White said that filming the project was “incredible, challenging, dream come true.” He added, “I feel really lucky. We all had Bruce’s blessing on this film.”
Strong added about Springsteen and Landau’s real-life professional relationship: “The journey that they’ve been on together is just beautiful and unprecedented in the history of music.”
The trailer, at times both contemplative and rousing, got a big response for the audience and included White’s rendition of “Born to Run.”
